If you read "The Case for Faith," one of the interviewees said that "youths" was a described a pretty broad age range (preteens to thirties). Furthermore, the connotations behind the "youths'" jeers were nastier than meets the eye. 1). They denied Elisha's status as a prophet and 2). they were threatening his life. When you consider that these she-bears killed some grown, violent men, it's all the more amazing.
