Touching Anime Series

Postby Otaku10 » Mon Jun 13, 2005 5:43 am

Have any emotional anime series that made you sad and made you cry or almost did. I know I have a few. When posting comments put spoilers on the comments if you are trying to describe a certain moment in the anime.

Opps.... I thought I made a thread in the anime section. My bad. If a mod would be so kind to move this. Again I am sorry for this.

Every time I go to view an Anime DVD I touch it.
Seriously, I haven't seen much anime but those that have not made me cry but have been very emotional are: elements of Last Exile and basically the whole Noir series.

Just finished wolfs rain and it made me cry like a baby, which is good and bad because the only time I seem to cry is at the end of an anime series

- Chrno Crusade: *bawls* JOSHUA! :waah!:
- Tactics: The only series that caused me to bawl my way through 4 consecutive episodes. T_T; Goodness.
- Escaflowne (both the series and the movie, though I think I can relate to movie Hitomi better...)
- Fruits Basket

yeah, I like the movie hitomi better even if she was a tad suicidal. She seemed a little *ahem ditzy in the show. I still liked her in both.

The three part series "Area 88" was one of them for me. The third part stank, (because they neither followed the comic nor gave it a decent ending), but I cried at all three parts. Mercenary pilots, angst, lots of flying, and the need to get home...

-Now and Then, Here and There is supposed to be a very emotionally charged series.

-Nadesico is mostly funny, but occasionally it takes a very serious turn.

-Trigun.

"Spoiler space" doesn't work too well here since you have to scroll down
Best to do it like this
Your text here
<---------- but make sure there is no space between the "r" and the "]"

Your text would then look like this
Schtuff that made me cry...

Trigun: The deaths of Wolfwood and Legato.

Grave of the Fireflies: The end, when he cremated his sister.

Cowboy Bebop: The end when Spike and Vicious die.

And finally, my saddest moment...

Gundam: 08th MS Team: When Ghinius dies *cries*
Easy enough?

Just a side note: maybe it'd be best to post the shows that touched you, and perhaps not the reasons why. Should those reasons contain spoilers, it could ruin the experience of watching those shows for people that haven't seen them yet but plan to. Use the
tag if there's anything you want to divulge that could potentially have this risk. Just something to consider ;)

I've only shed tears for Grave of the Fireflies and Fruits Basket, but here are the anime series that I remember for being extremely emotionally stirring.

- Grave of the Fireflies
- Fruits Basket
- Aura Battler Dunbine (last few episodes, at least)
- Gundam SEED (last half, subbed version only)
- Marmalade Boy (I'm watching the last two episodes tonight -- I don't want it to end! :waah!: )

I found some episodes of the 2000 version of Astro Boy sad (that is really a given since the older versions have sad moments too). Notable episodes are 11, 35, 43, 49, and 50. The english dub cut out a lot of the sad scenes so, of course, watch the Japanese version of this show. ;)

The Jungle Emperor Leo movie was sad too...

...That's all I could think of right now... ^^;

Voices of a Distant Star as a whole.

Casshern(technically not anime, but close enough)was really sad.

In Nadesico when
Gai Daigoji died
was like a shot in the heart.

Giant Robo, which is a drama as opposed to a mecha/action series, is extremely sad, starting from about the end of the third episode all the way to the end.

Full Moon Wo Sagashite. I have never been so emotional about any book/movie/tv show/manga. . . ANYTHING in my LIFE! *cries. again*
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

The Rurouni Kenshin OVA called 'Samurai X Trust and Betrayal'. The ending had me crying through the credits and for five full minutes after the screen went dark because the credits were over. That and 'Voices of a Distant Star' are the two that had me crying the most of all.

Grave of the Fireflies
Someday Dreamers
Ceres
and Saikano

All of which had really really touching stories...
