PONDER: Questions that Confound you

Talk about anything in here.

I don't think it's a good thing, but I don't think think all women like guys that look like girls, either. :)

Could go into this more, but...

Okay, this is a stupid thing to be pondering, but I actually have some more thoughts on this. Where should I post them? Should I start a new thread?

*randomly acts like a smart aleck*

>>Why do I still visit the CAA even thought I haven't watched any anime in over a year?
Because CAA is not just about anime. ;)

>>If there are more women than men in the world (and there are; over 7 million more in the U.S. alone), why do we still say that there is someone for everyone?
Because that 'someone' doesn't necesarily have to involve romance/eros.

>>Why do fangirls like men that look like women?
Try rephrasing that to avoid stereotyping. "Why do -some- fangirls like men that look like women?" Answer? I have none since I'm not the fangirl you're talking about.

>>If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?
Because there are different types of ignorances. Some make us happy, some don't.

>>Why do croutons come in airtight packages when it's just stale bread?
Most croutons are cubed pieces of bread fried in butter. The airtight packages are meant to minimize oil rancidity.

>> What makes Teflon stick to the pan?
Teflon (tetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)) will not chemically bond to anything, but can be forced mechanically into small nooks and crannies. This slippery substance adheres to their surfaces once manufacturers sandblast them to roughen them, apply a primer, and embed the Teflon into the primer. <--- http://www.coolquiz.com/trivia/explain/docs/teflon.asp Personally, I don't completely understand this explanation myself.

Yeah, and some of those "someone's" might be cats. ^-^

But honestly, who gave those statistics? I thought China was short on women. :P

I will look for the exact statistics, but I know for sure the the U.S. has a surplus of women.

Edit (update)- here is a site with population statistics: http://www.geohive.com/global/geo.php?xml=pop_gender&xsl=pop_gender

It appears that as of 2003, there are slightly more men in the world than women; however, in the United States, there are just over 5 million more women than men. In other words, I was half right :eyeroll:. Unless 5 million american girls want to emigrate (or 5 million men immigrate, with no additional women), we have an imbalance.

Wouldn't it be better to make everyone in the world have everything they want, and work because they love their jobs than have everyone in the world work for money and still be unable to afford the things they want?

Why is it that people go to school, to get a job, to get money, so that they can retire?

If everyone in the world only ate one meal, would there be enough left over for everyone to get seconds?

Due to the fact that the end times in the Bible needs to have people alive to come about then what would happen to humanity if all the nuclear weapons, which is enough to kill everyone, actually went off?

If it had existed back then, who would have been on Time magazines cover after eve and adam?

Do angels find humans interesting? And if they do, do they have their own version of People magazine in heaven?

What would angels do if they got a coffee break?

Did God make humanoid creatures on other planets?

Speaking of other planets, God gave adam dominion over the fowls of the air the fish of the sea and things on the land, did that include other planets?

Vegitarians don't eat meat because it was alive right? Well aren't plants alive?

If plants can move towards light, doesn't that mean they're intelligent on some level?

And What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

*cant help himself*

1) How do they get that ship inside the bottle?

Why is anything in this thread important?

Here's a few more:

1.Why do nerds hate Halo?
2.Who would win: Godzilla or Gamera?
3.Who in their right mind thinks that goth or ganguro fashions are attractive?
4.It's 2005...where's my flying car?!
5.Why does the internet induce terrible grammar/spelling and the inability to form coherent and interesting thoughts in 99% of users?

Because of the awesomeness of the memberhood, of course.

How can you reconcile divine foreknowledge with human free will? (bonus points if you can come up with an answer that doesn't depend on timelessness/eternity).

Foreknowledge does not imply mandate.

Here's my question to ponder: How am I going to spend all my bonus points?!!

Do gnomes live in my closet?

Of course they do]Wouldn't it be better to make everyone in the world have everything they want, and work because they love their jobs than have everyone in the world work for money and still be unable to afford the things they want?[/quote]

Impossible logistics notwithstanding... who would take your garbage to the dump?

Due to the fact that the end times in the Bible needs to have people alive to come about then what would happen to humanity if all the nuclear weapons, which is enough to kill everyone, actually went off?

Presumably the nuclear weapons are not aimed at every point on the globe. There would be some pockets of civilization that were not blown off the planet.

Do angels find humans interesting?

Probably.

"And now this Good News has been announced by those who preached to you in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It is all so wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these things happen." (1 Peter 1:12)

They probably watch us, not because of any inherent greatness we possess, but because God works through people.

Did God make humanoid creatures on other planets?

Maybe. I have a hard time believing that Earth is the only planet in the universe that God would populate with intelligent life.

Speaking of other planets, God gave adam dominion over the fowls of the air the fish of the sea and things on the land, did that include other planets?

Haven't we screwed up our own planet enough? :sniffle:

Vegitarians don't eat meat because it was alive right? Well aren't plants alive?

Yes. Quit being so logical. :P

If plants can move towards light, doesn't that mean they're intelligent on some level?

Intelligence is different from instinct, or whatever it is that makes plants move.

And What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

That is one of the great mysteries of the Universe.

I've pondered that one myself.... Perhaps it's a side effect of sensory overload.

more quacky questions

Postby Dante » Sat May 28, 2005 11:43 am

1. What was God doing before "The beggining"?, just fun to ponder

2. Is Schroodinger's cat dead, or alive?

3. Why do we say that life after death is infinitely better than life on Earth but yet most of us would rather stay on Earth than go to Heaven today? Rather silly if you think about it,

4. Why do people obsess about grammar and punctuation when everyone understands exactly what was meant by the sentance without the corrections.

5. Who buys products from adware companies

6. Who buys products from telemarketers

7. Why does the government not care if adware companies mess up my computer, but do care if I mess up the adware companie's computer. :P (I only wish I could *sigh*)

This requires some info, in my town we recently had a sting operation on a house which had servers giving out Star Wars Revenge of the Sith for free on the net. My question,

8. What geek would actually download Star Wars and not camp out in front a movie theather instead, thus loosing all rights ultimate geekiness.

9. Why does my dog wake up at 3:00 in the morning every morning to go outside and chase cats?

Have fun,
Pascal

If God is omnipresent, does that mean He's in hell?

If something cannot be done, does that mean it is impossible, or that it does not exist?

If it does not exist, can God still pull it off?

If He can't, does that mean He's not omnipotent?
