A question concerning E-Bay

I have long avoided E-Bay however...thier prices attract me.

So here's my questions. Is E-Bay safe? I will I get my product from the person I buy from? How do they ship it to me? My parents is very wary from distrubting my address. Does the person know my address and stuff?

Also what are your experiences with E-Bay?

I've usually had good luck-- only needed to give one negative feedback. However, there are a lot of people selling bootleg CDs and DVDs out there, so I'd be real careful and make sure it is the official US release you're bidding on.

A lot of fansubs are also sold on eBay.

Yes I don't know how many times I've said this on these boards but Ebay is a cesspool for anime bootlegs. That doesn't mean there isn't legit anime, I've gotten a couple things legit there, but you need to know what to look for. But! Otherwise everything else is alright. I've never had one bad experience with Ebay in 5 years. People who are gonna cheat you are blacklisted pretty quickly and are few and far between.

Most of the DVD's that I see on there run for like 20 dollars. And those selling them habe like a 99% positive feedback...does that generally mean they don't sell bootlegs or what?

No all that means is just that 99% of the people who buy from them don't know the difference. Search for Stand Alone Complex Hitokiri. You know what the boxes look like. You know who districutes it, Bandai and MANGA. All you will see are cheap looking, Chinese subtitled, Japanese subbed boxsets. Copyright laws are really lax in Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and that's where most bootlegs come from. FX is a Taiwanese bootleg company and they're the biggest.

I have had nothing but great luck dealing on Ebay. I have over 30 some buys...and only one guy was slow sending it. Feedback is not about if its a bootleg or not. Feedback means satisfied. If you want real anime, probably buy from the mall. Typicaly most of the anime on Ebay tends to be bootlegs. I have been on Ebay for a while and really love it. Its a good place to find stuff.

I only ordered one thing from E-bay so far. A can of 1100 mL GreenGas for my Airsoft gun. Works fine, I got it in like 2 weeks, and Ebay left me very happy. That's my 2-cents.

Next time you go to eBay's website click on the "help" tab near the top of the screen and read all the info about buy and selling carefully. You may also want to carefully read a seller's feedback.

As for my experience on eBay this is what I have to say. It's kind of a hit or miss. Whle there are good sellers on Ebay there are also people that are in betweeen or just bad. Always check feedback and ask questions before you bid on an item. My rule is if a seller doesn't answer a question about an item or reply hostileky they obviously don't want my business.

Thankd for the input but I decided to not do E-Bay despite the prices. I'm fairly cautious with giving my address out (as Zipo-Master knows) and E-Bay, even if the sellers do mean well, is to big of a risk in my book.

I've had nothing but good luck with Ebay. Just ask the seller some questions if you are concerned. Positive feedback is always good but beware of bootleg dvds. They are often hard to recognise - I know I bought Tintin dvds and they were bootleg, even though they cost me a lot and I didn't realise it at the time. The quality is no different from the offical but the rightful owners don't get the money.
So be wary when using Ebay in regards to bootlegs but still many good things can be found there.

ive got nothing bad to say about ebay... ive been satisfied with buying from them...everyonce in a while you might get somethin that takes a while to get... and ive gotten a bootleg or 2...

I don't see how the modern world could survive without eBay. Virtually anything is at your fingertips.

As someone who has bought many times and sold on eBay, here are some quick tips to help you out:

Check feedback: If a seller's feedback is 100%, you can pretty much buy with confidence. 95%+ is still good, for ease of mind, you can check all the feedback related to the seller before buying, and check out the negative ones. I wouldn't recommend buying from a seller below 95%, you wouldn't neccesarily get ripped, but it's always best to be on the safe side.

Paypal: eBay with PayPal gives you added security so you won't get ripped if a seller is a fraud. Always check to see if a seller accepts Paypal before buying. Most do, but it's best to check before buying or bidding.

Excersise extreme caution buying anime: Most anime on eBay is bootlegged. An anime is most likely bootlegged if it contains entire series' at insanely low prices, or/and if it comes from Hong Kong. The biggest tipper is if it says it contains English/Chinese subtitles. I've imported authentic anime from Japan before, and Japanese anime DVD's virtually never have English or Chinese subtitles.

Don't buy anything from Hong Kong, period.
