You can get Gunsmith Cats on Essential Anime now. Usually, places like Best Buy will carry it for $12.99. That's where I got my copy (much cheaper than con prices). It's a fast paced little show with a good bit of violence. Character development is quick and to the point. It is one of the few titles where the characters are based in the U.S. (Chicago to be exact) and falls into the bounty hunter type of show.

In regard to what you should get at the con, it really depends on where your interests lie. What series you like, what you like to collect (Plushies, pencil boards, keychains, anime cels, DVDs, music CDs, posters, wallscrolls)? You will find most of it there and anything that is somewhat hard to come by. Best thing to do is think ahead of those items that you would really like to add to your collection.

Hmm, well conventions usually do feature things at full retail price or more not to mention all the sellers that are trying to pass off their bootleg crap on people so watch out. It might be best to go there the last hour of the convention. People will be trying to get rid of stuff at super low prices.

Other than going to see cosplays and possibly speak with publishers and such I rather surf the net for my anime and things like that. :p

I'm not sure what cons you are referring to, but I remember AX was really good at cracking down on bootlegs in the way of DVDs (CDs are a different story) and I actually found a lot of goods for much cheaper than average retail price. Though I agree, the first and last days of a con is the best to shop - first day has the most selection and last day has the most bargains.

Anyways - I'm not sure exactly what you're interested in, but in the way of DVDs I'd reccomend looking for: Giant Robo (this is for you, Impact. ), Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok (not sure if this one's been released yet), and the uncut Shaman King.
