Bishie-Obsessed Little Sister Wanting to Join CAA

Postby Madeline » Thu Jun 02, 2005 3:10 pm

My little sister has been wanting to join this forum for ages. She loves anime, j-pop and has a *slight* obsession with Dark Mousy. Unfortunately, she is under the age limit. -_-

I don't want her to lie about her age, but she is really upset about being unable to join. :sniffle:

I would tell her to wait it out, but that would take about...six years! @_@ Poor child.

What should I do?

o.O There's an age limit? Dude... but some people don't list their age in their profile? How can there be an age limit? I've seen twelve year olds here... how much younger can your sis be?

She's seven, and currently singing a song she heard on Japan-A-Radio at the top of her lungs...>.> (in my ear)

LOL! XD XD XD *laughs head off* I put on Japan-A-Radio for her, so she's singing along with that now. She gets quieter when the radio is on.

Wait, I take that back. *covers ears* @_@

That's an age limit? Geez, what is it?

*thinks it's probably 13.*

Maybe if your parents wrote a permission letter she could join. . .
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Yeah, I don't think there is an age limit since I think Impact had his age listed for a while as 2. :P

Yep...:waah!:

EDIT: My sister is crying now. I feel like a terrible sibling! How do I turn this thing off? *honks her nose* Nope. Not working. XD

She's saying just to enter her age as 13 for now so she can register. Is there any other way...? I feel really bad since I told her she could join and now she's really upset. -___-

Actually, my daughter joined when she was 11, because I - her mom - gave my permission. I think you should pm Ashley and ask about this. Ask your mom to send a pm to Ashley.

Ashley, we need you! *flashes the Texas Lone Star Spotlight into the night sky* :D

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

what is it with girls and bishies?

The main thing about the 13 year old policy is, I'm sad to say it....Online Preditors, and seeing are your sister is under 13, and may not have the best judgement about things, they are prime targets. my suggestions aside from letting her use your account, would be to PM ashley and get advise from a Texan.

I'll tell her. She's downstairs, watching Toonami. Mindless television will ease the pain, LOL. XP I'm sure my sister will be immensely happy to receive a cyber-bishie plushie. ^_^

We could tell you, but then we'd have to kill you. Or make you wear and frilly dress so we could have picture for black mail.

Haha! XD I don't understand bishies myself, but my sister does...strange.

Yes, I see the logic in the age policy. I'd like her to have her own account though. Letting her use mine...eek...it could be disastrous! Then I would become a regular in the bishie thread! *supergasp* My reputation as a non-bishie-obsessor would be ruined! XD

But I wouldn't mind letting her post under my name a little bit. ^.^ It serves as a temporary solution. :)

I saw a Lonestar flag flying in the dark sky, and lo! I came!

Ah yes, COPPA. Basically, because we are a registered forum we have to obey COPPA laws--COPPA means that you can't be online without your parent's permission if you are under 13. All she needs to do is ask your Mom if it's ok if she browses here, and when she registers hit "under 13" and put in your mother or father's email account. Like it or not, we have to obey the rules and that's why there is an age minimum. People can tweak it after they are in, but *shrug* It's there for legal reasons.

However, fear not. PM me (I think you already have, I haven't checked my box yet) and we will figure something out.

o.O Seven and already interested in boys?

Well, my mom swears that at that age or younger I had a crush on Spiderman. I have no recollection of it, though.

I know! My thoughts exactly! It doesn't matter what I say though, every time she sees one of my manga every boy in the entire thing is "SO CUTE!! X3 X3 X3". >.<

Umm, would it be possible for your mother to register in her own name and give account usage to your sister, perhaps under the same legal reasons that allow parents to make legal/financial etc. decisions on behalf of their children?
