Takuhai?

Anyone else heard of/sign up for this? Apparhently it's Tokyopop's free manga magazine. Did I mention it was FREE? I'm wondering what the catch must be--I bet it's only free for a year, or something. I don't know what titles they plan on showcasing (if any), so I was wondering if anyone had some info on it. I've already signed up...I was just curious.

Free? It's probably got a little more advertising to cover costs.

Those ads really add up, if you'll pardon the pun.

Could you tell us what it's like, when you actually get a decent look at it? I saw that and figured it would probably feature titles that I did not particularly want to read, but the concept itself does interest me.

People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share

And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.

You sign up at http://www.tokyopop.com by June 1st. And sure, I'll tell you what it's like, but I don't know how the subscription process will work after tomorrow.

I figure it will be a waste of postage or, as Ashley surmised, there's a catch somewhere down the road. . .

Either way, I'll probably sign up anyways.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I've gotten an email about it but didn't really sign up for it since I'll be moving. Hmm....maybe I could have it directed to my office address. It looks interesting but I still haven't figured out the whole point of it.

Please post about it when you know. I'm curious, but I was a bit scared to try it myself.

If it is good, I'm sure they'll have another way to get it later.
