Need Sleep Tips...

What do you guys do to sleep well and wake up feeling refreshed the next morning?

I am curious because everytime I go to bed and sleep a good amount (like eight hours), I somehow wake up still feeling sleepy or feel really out of it. I guess that's because I get much less hours of sleep in the weekdays (5-6 hours) and that is probably why I still need to catch up on. But I'm not sure.

Hmm. To me, the pefect sleep...is not setting the alarm. Then again, if you work/school early that cans that. I love getting like 9 hours of sleep...I wake up feeling amazing.

Plug in my headphones into my portable CD player, and make sure I have a CD inside that I know for sure will put me to sleep. Don't know about you, but Josh Groban is a perfect choice. Hehehehehe. Oh, and some trunk twists to crack my lower back are helpful for me as well.

Just before going to sleep, make your bed and take a bath/shower. Believe me, it does help. :) (In severe emergencies only, you could also consider drinking a glass of milk and/or taking a cold/allergy pill that makes you drowsy.)

For me I blast serenity music from laptop, mostly some anime OST, for example .hack//sign or Air TV. Puts me sleep with a smile :) and I feel refesh waking up next morning. Also waking up to sunshine from the window to your bed, feels good too.

I usually find that caffiene helps, but that won't work for everyone. Also, if you have a window facing south or east, leave your blinds/curtains open at night. The natural light of dawn will help you to get up by the normal routines of the body. Of course, this works best if you don't have to wake up before dawn.

Also, try slowly moving back the time when you go to sleep - there is a point where you're getting your natural sleep length. If you sleep more or less than that length, you'll feel hazy and have difficulty. (I find it's worse to sleep later than to start earlier - I absolutely hate sleeping in to 10 or 11am, because it leaves my brain fuzzy all day.)

I turn the radio down so its just loud enough to hear and leave it on while I sleep. I usaully try to get 8-9 hours of sleep at night. Taking a shower after I wake up, and a short walk in the woods if I had time helps too.

It could be that you're stressed, I've found that stress causes me to wake up tired no matter how much sleep I get.

Now this is something I've never heard of before. Natural sunlight is suppose to "kill off" the sleep chemicals to wake you up. Everyday I wake up with the sunlight and I have my windows facing south. But never had the curtains all the way open (I guess I could try that). On occasion I also drink Coke for the reason that it puts me to sleep. It's funny when you think about it, but when I wake up in the morning I usually feel active and ready to tackle the day.

Although I think it's the stress that might be bothering me. One time I was really stressed out during the night and slept for around 7-8 hours. You couldn't believe how slow and cranky I was the rest of the day, even with such a long period of sleep. I guess taking a bath while stressed during that night would help me sleep well.

I wish I knew more about how our body patterns operate as it would help me keep my day job. :)

I some how fell asleep right after Mryle and Millie were introduced and next thing I knew I was confusedly watching Koga!

Well on weekdays I go to sleep at around 10:30. But when I wake up at 7 I am really out of it. So I fall back asleep for 25 minutes, and my mom comes running in and wakes me up. And then and only then do I feel like I got my needed 10 hours of sleep (which I get on the weekends). It's funny, that extra 25 minutes helps out a whole bunch.

Just getting up at around 8-8:30 almost every day seems to work well for me, regardless of the time I go to sleep at night.

But I'm also a lot healthier than I used to be. My job keeps me active and I'm getting stronger. :) I really think that has led to me sleeping better and waking up more rested.

I am stressed a lot, but that doesn't interfere with my actual sleep-- it just gives me horrible, horrible nightmares.
