Shaun of the Dead

Unless something happens, I'm seeing this movie tomorrow. I can't wit for it. I'll post a review as soon as I can. About the movie, I heard that it is just like a normal zombie movie but with comedy. All the horror, gore, and gratuitous violence will still be there. Yay!

I want to see this movie so bad. It got an A- in our reviews this morning. Which surprised me.O_O It's supposed to be very original, with great characters and character development. They say this is laugh out loud funny and with zombies too. Can't beat that. ^___^

YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Well I said I'd post a review unless something happened.

Something happened

The movie theatres round my parts do not play shaun of the dead. I drove to three theatres and all of them weren't showing it. I am so mad right now. I want to burn down those theatres, but that's illegal. I hate my town.

I definately want to see this, although I probably won't be able to this week since I have to give a couple of pretty major presentations to some visiting companies. In any case, it's only playing up on the mountain right now, which is a bit of pain to get to if you ride the bus.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Watched it and liked it. It's really my type of humor, but the language and a few choice places of extreme gore sorta lowered the the whole fun of the experience for me. But man, I came out there itching to play House of the Dead or Resident Evil XD XD Really fun for zombie movie fans :D

I seen it and was really disappointed with it. I was expecting it to be much funnier, but it wasn't... A couple of bits were good but that's about it.

I love British humor. I didn't go for the extreme language or some of the more gratious violence, but overall it was very well done! And there was some very good acting too!

I think if you watched it with an adult who had seen it, it would be ok. There are a few parts I would not want younger people to see...scenes of extreme over the top gore that were put in for comedic purposes. Albeit black humor...but still they are what they are.

Hopefully Sci-Fi will air it in the future, movies aired on TV generally cut out the harsher language, which is why I prefer watching movies like this on TV to renting them.

Um... Did you watch the "cleaned up" version on the DVD? It was so laughable... something to the effect of "[button="obvious euphamisms"]What the funk are you talking about. I don*t give a funk about your funking friend, he*s a funking idiot who needs to be dropped on his funking butt[/button]" or something like that... It was pretty funny...

As for the over-the-top gore, the scene at the end, when that one guy
gets pulled out the window by the zombies, I guess in the original script there was meant to be a pun there... He was going to actually apologize to Shaun and then the girl was going to say "That took a lot of guts" and then the zombies were going to take his guts...
As it was, that was the only scene that made me cringe...

Yeah... It's in the special features, and it's just the scene when they get home from the bar... Shaun's brother comes into the room yelling at them for being up late...

If I remember right, it was a sample of how airlines had censored the film over seas.

I had the opportunity to see this movie last weekend and I liked it better then I thought I would.

I do have a question, though. Where is the movie supposed to be set? Everything about the movie is British, but they drive on the right side of the road. So is it supposed to be set in the US?

It seems kind of like the movie is going on at the same time as Dawn of the Dead, but these folks weren't smart or clever enough to make it to the mall with the "competent" people. Instead, they just kind of bumble around outside.

Perhaps one of the horror gurus can clue me in.

They drive on the right side? I never noticed that. But then, I suppose if most of the townspeople are zombies anyway, you can drive on whatever the heck side you want. As for the mall, maybe there just wasn't one nearby. But they did have the Winchester, complete with beer, peanuts and a jukebox playing "Don't Stop Me Now" while they beat up some zombies.

Well, I can verify the British drive on the "other" (cough wrong XD ) side of the road; when I was in London, many sidewalks had warnings like "Americans! Please look both ways!" because they have so many Americans get hit. The steering wheel and pedals are also on the right side of the car, instead of the left.

I'm not a big horror fan by ANY stretch (ask Shatterheart's kidney) but this was one I was mildly interested in seeing.

It would be funny if it weren't so serious (I hope you know what I mean by this oxymoron), but you talk about americans getting hit? There was a Samoan guy (or was he Tongan?) who came to the US to do something called "The Wave" which is essentially a team that went all over the US to get churches psyched up for missions... Well, the guy looked the wrong way when he went to cross and got hit by a car, expecting cars to drive on the left... He's doing ok now, but it was scary for a while...

Oh, and Shatterheart. You've got red on you.

That makes sense, too - or about as much sense as any zombie movie can, anyway.

I also remember commenting on why the English would be in a lot more trouble with the whole Zombie thing than Americans would be. They never should have outlawed firearms. The only gun in the show was an illegal display piece.

I personally guarantee the first ten Zombies through my door are not going to get to me.
