Remember folks, different names change people. Completely. Maybe not as much in English-speaking countries that use Christian names (like Paul, David, James, etc etc), but it does have a lot of impact in Asian countries where names can be varied a lot.

So think about that when you name your kids in Japanese or otherwise.

qv X B is right. In Eastern countries, especially during Biblical times, one's name was one's life. Why do you think so many people in the Bible had their names changed during an important life change (Abram/Abraham, Jacob/Israel, Esau/Edom, Simon/Peter, Saul/Paul)?

I've used most of my favorite names on characters already. ;_; they are:

Rowan
Julian - I used this for a girl, as opposed to spelling it "Julienne", since they're pronounced pretty much the same way anyway...

Lilian
Arian - "AH-ri-an", not "AIR-i-an" as in the Aryans -_-;
Aidan - I say it "EYE-dan" instead of "AY-dan"
Stephen - "Stefan" instead of "Steven"...how did "ph" come to be "v"? o_o

My favorite name out of all those is probably Arian, but I don't think I would ever use it for my own child, because that would just be too weird. And as you can see, I'm partial to names that end in "-an" or "-en". o_o I also like Aidan, but that character is an evil, evil man...>.<

For a boy, I'd choose William. (I almost got named William. ^^)
If it's a girl, maybe Amber or Josie...

I have dozens of names that I've used on various occasions, and that I might like to name my kid. It's hard to pick just one or two, but I suppose that it would probably be one of these:

For a girl:

Kaela (pronounced KAI-la, not KAY-la)

Asharah Meredith (two beautiful names that sound good together and have to do with the sea)

Luthíen (yes, borrowed from Tolkien. People could call her Lulu or something for short )

For a boy:

Caden (pronounced KAY-den)

Hadrian (yes, after the wall )

Katsuo (means 'victorious child' in Japanese)

Or you could be cruel and give them names that will make them social outcasts like:

Or names that will be confusing in public conversations:

Wow! That's way more than I thought...As far as being cruel to your children, there was a girl who went to my school whose name was Tya Boots (Tie-ya boots). Another student at the highschool is named Chase Heiney. Yes, it's pronounced that way. That's awful, but hilarious.

Brian for Brian Boru, the famous Irish king - and I have a friend named Brian.
Victoria for the English Queen, and because I know someone named Victoria.
They're both strong names, and pretty decent.

Why do people want to give their children unique names? Do you think your children will be unique if they have unique names? If that theory holds true then the opposite should also be true right? A common name makes a common person? Right? Right? Wrong!

I can name one person who has a very common name for His time yet we worship Him as the creator of the universe. Jesus was probably the most common name in Jesus' time so surely Jesus Christ Himself is about as common as they come. The name of someone doesn't make the man.

As for me i dont know what ill name my kids. That's still a long way off and it's not only my decision anyway. We'll decide when the time comes.

I really don't think that any of the names I listed were unique,except for Romana.
And that was from being a Dr.Who fan.
All of the others were pretty normal.Of course if I wanted my children to have
unique names I could name a daugther Fortune Flood or Fortune Jordan and
a son Hinchea/Hinchey/Hinshaw Gilliam,all of which are names of ancestors.

Ah, that's the beauty of it! Our Lord and Saviour, Creator of Heavens, and yet with a name that is so common to man. So unique, yet described to be so common, so humble. Perfectly fits as name of our Servant Lord on Earth.

Most people are married awhile before they decide to have kids ya know. Well good luck with that because can't say I'd marry ya if I had to use names you wanted. I think it would be better to come to a mutual agreement over this is the way it's going to be. But with names like Can't Wright you sound so serious.

When my sister in Alaska and her husband were having their first son(he has two daugthers from a previous marriage and they were in California at the time)they made a deal that if it was a girl she would have a Spanish name since he came
originally from the Dominican Republic,but if it was a boy he would have a Scottish
name.
thank God it was a boy since Ian is much easier to spell and pronounce!
