Naming your child

Postby Mr. SmartyPants » Wed May 18, 2005 4:55 pm

okay, if you had a child (assuming you were married.... hypothetically)... well im MY case... PURELY hypothetical IF i get married

anyway question is, what woudl you name your kids?

IF i had a girl (which i would rather have then a boy) id name them:

Terra or Erin (very odd because an adult leader at my youth group has 2 daughters named erin and terra)... I LOVE those names for some reason...

if I had a boy... meh... possibly Elias or something ^^

Go ERIN! That's MY name! :jump:

Terra's a cool name... means "earth."

Elias is the name of the Very Bad Man (TM) in the book I'm currently reading, so I'm not too keen on that at the moment.

I like the name Zoe for a girl.

I think theres already a thread about this...somewere...oh well...

Boy: Ryan Nightow ( full name, nothing to do with MSP =]) or Hawk Nelson ( Heck yes I'll do it)
Girl: Aurora or Eire

I feel bad for the kids were going to have, with their anime and video game names.

Hmmm...if I ever had a boy, I'd proabably name him Andrew or Thomas. If I had a girl, I'd probably name her Sarah or Victoria. Plain and simple names lol.

Hmm, I'm still giving it some thought. I want names that are uncommon but not crazy-weird. There's some names out there that I don't want to use because it's an overload of people with that particular namewithin the same proximity -- in my opinion, overusage really tires a name out even if it is cool. There are names that I think I would want to use even though they're foreign names (i.e. Greek, Spanish, Japanese, etc.) I'm unsure of boy names but a girl name I've been thinking of is Zephanie :)

Wow...kids huh? I haven't really given that a whole lot of thought. I'll think I'll cross that bridge if I come to it.

Somebody mentioned the name Terra. I know of a girl named Terran, but I have a sneaking suspicion that her parents were hippies or something. Also, she wants to be a holistic health professional (go figure). So yeah, cool name, I'm all for unique names.

I'm going to name my kid Knives. Doesn't matter if it's a boy or girl. Knives. Yep. Or maybe Tessla if it's a girl...

...

...

...

...

...

I am kidding, you know!

But maybe not about the Tessla part... I'll do it just for her and Knives' sake!

OK OK OK OK! I've thought about this. Well, one of the names I stole from Osaka, ha ha, I just have to have a girl first. The name being Kari Ellison. I just love it, it has such a great ring to it! And the second name for a girl that I've thought of on my own is Aria Marie, I think that one flows well too. For a boy, I like the name Wesley. . . Reed maybe? And I also like the name Grant, but I'm not sure what middle name I'd put with it yet. Maybe Thomas. Not sure. I have a lot more names too but I can't think of them right now. They come and go, but they'll be back :P.

And for the record: I don't plan on getting married and having kids, what with the third arm and one leg. : P

If you named your kid Gaylord you're subjecting him to years of torture you know.:P Angel and Fly seem to fit snugly into a female risque profession too. I'm joking but please...don't name your kids those few at least for their sake.;)

As far as names for my kids I like the names:

Reese

Carter
Jordan
Joshua

Elisa
Gretchen

Someone mentioned Scout...never thought of that as a name but it sounds kinda cute :) Some ppl think Apple is a weird name for a child (i.e. Gweneth Paltrow's baby) but I don't think it's that bad. I think Apple is cute too ^_^

I watched this movie once (can't think of the name of it) and this dude's name was Cotton. If you knew his villainous character you would see that he wasn't exactly soft and gentle

Ah, after your favorite "cool" dude? ~_^

Anyway, I wanted to name my kids a first name from the Old Testament and a middle name from the New Testament.

Thus, I named my son, Joshua (God is salvation) Luke, and my daughter, Sarah (a princess) Hope (This is a family name and it's my middle name too).

If I would have been able to have more children I was thinking of Rachel, Anna or Jacob.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.
