O my gosh! No threads on Star Wars 3 yet!?

TV, Movies, Sports...you can find it all in here.

Ok I've got to say something...although late in the thread and missed the heated battle of the movies lol.

To be honest here all the movies are great. A movie can still be good with bad acting and too much special effects. If you judge a movie by just that then you have totally missed the point of why these movies were created. A movie is made to tell a story. The actors just act out the story. Wether they are good or bad actors the story is still portrayed. But I guess I'm the kind of person that judges everything by storyline...like in games for example...but anyways...

The focus of Ep 1-3 is Anakin right? The events leading him to be found, trained as a Jedi and converting to the dark side. That's that main theme, just the Clone War and the love with Padme are just side stories that help add volume to the main story and show more details on the main theme. In a way these are necessary because without them all he has to say is...he was trained as a jedi then he just turned plain evil. Now that would be boring, but the special effects and acting good or bad have to be added. So regardless of how BAD you say the acting is or how there is too much or too less special effects...the main focus is to move the story.

With all that said I think Lucas has done very good at moving the story even though people may say the acting is bad. So give him a chance to finish strong and make the tie-in with Ep 4-6, So the story will come together and we can enjoy a full series of a compelling and awesome story that will be a classic for years to come even tho its new-old it still will be an extraordinary experience.

How often are these types of movies made anyways?...So why shoot it down?

And if I get flamed for this... :waah!: It's just an opinion that I think should be taken into consideration when there is criticism.

opinions are always welcome, especially when polite like yours.

Personally, I didn't like the stories. I would have started with Anakin as an idealistic officer in the Old Republic faced with a corrupt government, have Palpatine gently nudge him to an "ends justifies the means" outlook and finally corrupts him to the dark side. I think Lucas neglected the stories in favor of the eye candy. Hopefully he's learned from the generally negative reception the previous two got (and where I live it was almost universal).

In regard to Savior_Sora: :wow!:
You are the kind of person that I can never seem to find to discuss things with.... You're polite!!!!!
Everyone I try to discuss stuff with ends up getting hostile... You're cool.

Anyway, I see your point about the movies. The story has been portrayed through these movies even through all the things that may bug us I think we have to admit that the story is being filled in well.

Oh, by the way, I noticed that someone (I think AnimeHeretic, but I'm not sure) said that the medichlorions messed up the whole idea of the Force because it made just little cells responsible for a Jedi's power. Though Qui-Gon did say that's where the power came from I think he meant that the medichlorions are basically the middle-men between humans (Zabraks, Twileks, Rodian, whatever you happen to be...) and the Force. Just my thoughts.

I didn't like the prequels' portrayal of Anakin. He cried, whined, and was too arrogant to begin with. I would have much rather have had him be the consummate Jedi that ends up falling. It certainly would add to the original trilogy.

Actually, as I recall when George Lucas made the original trilogy, he was interested in Eastern mysticism, and his view of the force was a sort of panentheism (http://www.butler-bowdon.com/powermyth.htm). I got the impression that in the following 20 years he became disillusioned with that outlook, and the mitochloridians reflected that-- making science oriented revisions to his older stuff.

I guess I should be fair to Lucas and say that taking some 15 years hiatus between ep6 and ep1 makes full consistency hard (trying to remember now how I thought 15 years ago would be hard). I wish he remembered the most obvious stuff though...

With the medichlorions they are the tiny organisms that provide the human with the knowledge to use the force, but every living thing has the force, but humans (like the jedi) have learned to control it and use it to it's potential as it is supposed to be used. So in a way the medichlorions are kinda what make the force happen but it all depends on the person if they tap into it and learn fom it.

Also...one thing I just thought of in the original series. They always said Anakin was the best starpilot in the galaxy, but where besides the car chase in Ep II has he shown that?......................

There was the fact he blew up the Trade Federation thing in Episode One (precursor to Luke and the death star?)

And in the original series, when the rebels make their run on the death star, Vader himself busts out with the TIE fighter and starts picking them off, even almost got Luke...

And since he was spiraling out into space when the DS exploded, you have to assume he somehow righted his ship and managed to get back to Imperial HQ by himself.

Um, they did show that... or did they cut that out of the remade version? I forget. Luckilly, my brother has the original VHS deluxe boxed set, which showed him righting his ship and flying away

And the fact that he was a great pod racer probably affected his piloting skills too. I would agree that they haven't really developed Anakin on-screen as much as I would have hoped they would. episode 1 was pretty much just "this is how we found Anakin" without much development of his character, then episode 2 jumps many years later and he's already gone through a lot of training and development. I think it would have been nice to have seen some stuff in-between, but I guess that's what all those books are for ^^. From what I've read about the new book and reviews of episode 3 it sounds like this one will show a good progression of Anakin's character towards his destiny as a sith lord. I can't wait for next friday!!

I really would have preferred to have Anakin start as an adult like Luke or Han. I mean the impression I got was that Obi Wan met him during the clone wars when he was one of the best pilots in the galaxy, then the ep1 seemed to ignore it

As for the pod race, I kept waiting for Watl (sp?) to tell Anakin to look for his mother and sister in the valley of the lepers...[button="?"]How many people actually know that reference?[/button]

Anyone know what the third Star Wars is going to be rated in Australia? Its going to be PG-13 in the US and Attack of the Clones got an M rating on DVD here, so I can see this movie straight away getting an M rating. But I'm curious. I can't see them getting away with a PG. Any help?

Well, knowing what I do about Australian guidelines (which is quite limited, admittedly), I would not be suprised if it got an R. Because from what I have heard, it is significantly darker and more violent than Episode 2, which got an M.

I thought the next step up was MA15 (also given to Azu Dai dvd 1)

I have spoiled myself SO much for this movie... the dark side, with all it's spoiler pictures had lured me in a few weeks ago, and now I can basically tell you the whole movie from start to finish... bah. So disappointed in myself for being impatient... oh well...
My gf has never seen star wars... I need a DVD player, and 12 hours of free time, STAT!!!!

That's right.

G - for general exhibition (eg. Ice Age)
PG - parental guidance recommended for persons under 15 years (eg. Spirited Away)
M15+ - recommended for mature audiences 15 years and over (eg. The Lord of the Rings)
MA15+ - persons under 15 years must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian (eg. 24 tv series)
R18+ - restricted to audiences 18 years and over (eg. Mad Max)

I'm guessing so.
I've always been confused by US ratings. I don't understand how they work. You seem to have anime rated NR- (not rated) as well as TV series like 24 rated NR. What's up with that? And how did Lord of the Rings get away with PG-13, but Ice Age got a PG?

The MPAA is voluntary. If a movie or video doesn't weant to submit to the rating, they don't have to, in which case it's labelled NR (not rated by the MPAA). Nowadays PG is seen as benign, and your MA15 seems to straddle between our PG13 and R ratings. Any rating outside of NC17/X can be attended by a minor (with R, you're supposed to have parents but believe it or not, this isn't enforced by law).

For those movies that submit to screening, they are evaluated by a group of parents, who vote on what rating to give it.

Maybe this will help from the mpaa website: http://www.mpaa.org/movieratings/about/index.htm

So are you seeing it multiple times? or is the movie extra long? Seems like some time is there if you start at 8am.

Well, just get the caffeine ready for work...
