Gatekeepers 21

For those who have seen this Gonzo-produced title, what do you think of it?

This has to be among the best anime titles I have seen. It's only six episodes long, but a whole lot of love was given to this OVA. The animation was great, the characters were interesting (especially Miu :)) and the action sequences were very well crafted (I loved the little cell-phone sequences that appeared every now and then). Though I must admit that there were some plot holes here and there, it didn't really affect the experience much. It's an obvious "cheese-flick" and very much darker than the original, but it's well worth seeing first hand.

I thought it was very enjoyable series even so it was very short. But I have never watched the original GateKeepers.
 You gotta love it ^.^

Yes.It was too bad that AU didn't get the original Gatekeepers series to go along with Gatekeepers 21.There seems to be a lot of references to the
original series throughout and that was the only thing that could have made
it better was seeing it first and then Gatekeepers 21.
I really liked the way Miu and Ayane's relationship developed over the series
and how Miu herself developed from being a boy crazed klutz to someone
who was willing to sacrifice herself for others. :thumb:
Although her character didn't change from ep.1 to ep.6 she did grow a lot.
I also liked the fact that Miu was also thinking of her friends even when two of them turned into Invaders she still wanted to protect them.

Favorite scene is when they're chasing the truck and Ayane tells Miu
to get ready to fly and she mistimes it and flies smack into the highway
sign!

I would say so.The scenes where various people turn into Invaders are pretty scary.Especially the one where Miu and her friends are in the kaoroke booth and the voice comes over the phone.

It is only six episodes so three per DVD would make the total. :)

Ghost Girl(to Ayane):"You're not like me at all.You have someone precious
you care for."

I like this series. I actually saw this before seeing the original "Gatekeepers" and for some reason that didn't really ruin the experience of seeing the first one. That's how disjoint both shows are in the same basic universe.

My favorite episodes are the first and last ones. The introduction of the main characters in episode one was priceless and the final episode was filled with some good action scenes. Loved the whole cell-phone thing.

Miu:"Mommiiiiieeeee...."
Ayane:"Your mommy's not here!"

I love the difference between Miu and Ayane the two main characters.
Miu's such a girly girl and Ayane's so the other way it makes for an
interesting friendship in the end.

Yeah. Ayane and Miu are among my favorite characters that partner up. Though I personally find Miu to be way cuter and more fun with her easy-going personality. I just wish there was a continuum of there journeys together. It seemed like the ending hinted some sort of sequel for another series.

I agree it did seem that the ending hinted that there was more to the story.
