If I...

Postby SorasOathkeeper » Fri Apr 29, 2005 2:20 pm

Ok, i'm not sure what this would be considered, i don't think it's a pome, it's more my thoughts writen down.....'_' ANY HOW! I had a urge to wright this last night. This is my first time ever doing ANITHING like this, i've never been the type to think of good stuff to wright so don't be too hard on me.

If I…

If I would rather read books rather that gossip magazines dose that mean I’m not caught up on the latest news?

If I would rather watch movie’s that raise your sprit rather that shows that make you compete for the prize and make you feel down does that mean I don’t know reality?

If I would rather wear all black then wear what everyone else is wearing does that mean I have no fashion sense?

If I don’t wear makeup does that mean can’t look good?

If I don’t wear revealing clothes does that make me less pretty?

If I don’t have the perfect body does that mean I’m not beautiful?

If I’d rather wear lots of belts that fancy accessorizes does that mean I’m not cool?

If I would rather play video games with my friends rather then go to the mall with them does that mean that I don’t go out?

If I’d rather talk about what I’m into than pretending I’m into what every else is into does that make me strange?

If I’d rather hang out with my parents and there friends does that mean I’m not down with my generation?

If I like to be with my family and be my self rather than be with people that I don’t know and be quiet does that make me weird?

If I would rather stay home and learn schooling from my parents rather then go out where you get dragged down, pushed around, betrayed, made fun of cause of who you are, talked about behind your back does that mean I can’t be smart?

If I’d rather listen to my Dad read to me and spend time with him rather that be by myself and read alone does that mean I’m odd?

If I’d rather stay inside at night and be with my Mom does that mean I’m not cool by not staying out late?

If I’d rather obey my parents even by doing the littlest things does that mean I don’t have free will?

If I’d rather stay home and learn from my parents they way God wants me to be rather that go out and not learn anything does that mean I’m not social?

If I’d rather wait for the right man that God will send me rather than go out with any guy I meet on the street does that mean I’m wasting my time waiting?

If I would rather obey the laws of God rather then the laws of men does that mean I’m a criminal?

If I would rather shout from the mountains that Jesus Christ is Lord rather than sit down and not speak does that make me a freak?

If I would rather be myself and show others what Jesus has done for my life by being myself rather that going from door to door and preaching his word does that make me any less of a Christian?

If I would rather follow the Cross rather then the crowd does that make me a fool?

not cool, strange, weird, odd, criminal, freak, fool,

If being who I am,
loving my Lord,
honoring my parents,
dressing they way I want,
speaking the way I want,
thinking the way I want,
acting the way I do,
being the person I was meant to be,
the person God wants me to be,
His child.

If being this way makes me anything of the things above, then so be it
If you want to look down on me for being this way, that’s fine with me
If you want to think bad things about be cause of who I am, I don’t care
If you call me names to try to hurt me, it won’t work

I don’t care what people think about me.
I don’t care what people say about me.
I don’t care the way people act towards me.
I don’t care the way people look at me.

I will be who I am. Do what I do. Say what I say. Dress the way I dress. Hang out with who I want. Be with who I want. Think what I want. Look the way I want.

I am who I am cause that’s who God wants me to be and no one will stop me from doing what He wants.

If I tell you about this, will you think of how God truly wants you to be?

Cool poem! Like Shiroi I agree that the last one sounds like a song. Hmm... I bet you could put this to music really well. In fact I would love to see that!
I really loved the line 'shout from the mountains that Jesus is Lord'. Cool imagery there; I can imagine how cool it would be to stand on top of snow-covered Everest and shout that out.
Lots of cool ideas, good lines, and I love the different lines at the end too.
Excellent writing, Soras!

Yes, this is a type of poem. The first part is a List poem where every line begins with the same word or words with no particular attention to rhyme or rhythm. The last part, though lyrical, still maintaims a lot of that element within the stanzas.

The last part is certaintly my favorite. It has a nicer flow than the beginning, which, even though it was a list, may have been a bit better with a more paralleled structure.

All-in-all good work, Laura! I'm proud. ^_^d This is what I'm talking about when I say practice!
