Meine gross mutter's familie sie kommen von Deutchland im der 17er
und 18er centuries.(ok don't know German for century there,and yeah
I realize grammatically and all it's probably wrong but the gist is I did
take about two years of German in high school.And yes my paternal
grandmother's ancestors did mostly come from Germany and Holland
around the 17th and 18th centuries.Like so many people from Germanic
countries they settled in eastern Pennsylvania.)

btw:Custer was also of German descent the family name originally being
Kuster.

I took two years of French in HS. Then two years of Spanish and one of Biblical Greek at Uni. (I've studied Latin in my spare time)

Tengo estoy estudiando Espaniol para sies anos. Ahora estoy en una hablar/conversosion clase(sp?). Mi animal favorito es el dragon o la vaca. *Translation* I have studied Spanish for 6 years. Now I am en a speech/conversation class. My favorite animal is the dragon or the cow.

I am also teaching myself Japenese, KABA(I have no idea how to make it plural)! Hippos!

I myself was forced to take two years of Spanish; I think its a requirement for schools in Florida to force their students to have two credits of a foreign language under their belts. I wish I could've taken something cool, like Latin or Japanese- my Spanish teacher, while very well versed in Spanish, could not string a sentence together in English. Sigh...

Awesome, this is pretty much my exact story. When I was in Middle school, my mom made me take Spanish even though I wanted to take French. I ended up being home-schooled for high school and yet again my mom forced Spanish on me. The only time it became useful was my trip to Venezuela... when I was 15... even then it didn't help much. No offense to anyone here, but I personally despise Spanish now. Because I was forced to do it, it totally runed alot if it for me. I started studying Japanese on my own when I was 16 or 17... And I can't speak much still... It's kinda wierd, I have like this little bit of Spansh that I have ingrained in my mind that I can't get rid of... but at least I can navigate around Spanish internet sites...

Here is a fast funny story... when I was living in New York City last fall for an internship, I was doing some street ministry and I was trying to recall a bit of Spanish because I was in an area where there was alot of Latino people. Anyway, I was saying a few Spanish thing like, Buenos dias. and stuff like that and when someone took a tract I said, "Arigato!" And I realized I was mixing even more Spanish with JApanese without realizing it... I really felt like kicking myself..

Well, I took Spanish in high school, but now that I look back on it, I prolly should've taken sign language instead, specially since I pretty much grew up hearing Spanish. I know some sign language now though, and it's really fun. ^^
