French. Je deste Francais. . .
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

You people are forced to take a language class? Ouch. I only had to do one year of German, then forget it all. That was a long time ago.

Of course, some people still could pick language classes; Japanese and German classes being majority. I didn't have enough time/units to do language however :\

i had four years of spanish. and i'm terribly rusty... ^^;;; i need to get back into it, i can't seem to remember what conjugations are for what, and i should know, after four years... *rolls eyes* i just need to find my old notes and read through them. yes, i did keep all my notes, i hoard things. ^^;

at my school, we weren't technically required to take any, but colleges anymore won't accept people who haven't taken at least one or two years of a foreign language.

I took Spanish, although I hardly ever use it so I've forgotten quite a lot of it.

I am studying Japanese on my own and have been since I was about 17. I still can't speak it well. it's difficult -_-;

Spanish. Yep. Useful down the road probably, and I really should be more confident speaking it...but no.

I took four years of French in high school but haven't taken any classes in it since coming to college. If I go to graduate school, I may need to study another language as well--probably German or Latin.

I have taken 3 years of German and yet cannot say much at all. Here are some key German phrases!

Deine Mutter ist eine Ku.

Wie costet deise Bratwurst.

Die Hackfleich ist gerade aus!

I took four years of Spanish (2 HS, 2 Uni) and 2 years of 二本ご (post grad, lol). I think the language other than english that I am proficient in is what I'll call pwguwti (people who grew up with the internet). You know, just look around the forums and you'll see stuff that's not remotely english, but still is understandable. *shudders*

Loosely translated: I've learnt French for... four years. This year is my 5th year. I like it a lot; and, because my teacher is French, I can speak French better than I can write it. My grammar... that's terrible -but I know a lot of words. The imperfect tense... the future tense... the imperative tense... the conditional... woah!

I only took one year of Spanish back in 8th grade. And then nothing until my Senior year when I and 11 other people took what would have been 1 year of Japanese put into 1 semester, school board wanted to test it out before grabbing two more full time teachers for a single subject. Though I didnt exactly keep up with that as much but it did come back to me when I started it again in college.

I took 4 years of French in high school, but I'm really rusty. In college I've taken Latin, Spanish, and American Sign Language. I'm not really fluent in anything, but if you give me a dictionary and time, I can translate most things. Next on my list is Hebrew or Biblical Greek.

Japanese for high-school, and German for primary school. I found Japanese very difficult to learn, so after year 8 I did Japanese culture lessons instead.

In high school I took 3yrs of sign language and really enjoyed it. Not only was it in english, I didn't have to pronouce hard words :P

Though, whether people know it or not, there more to signing then just the hand gestures

Back in middle school I took 2 yrs of spanish and don't remember a lick of it...
But yeah, sign language rocked!

We're forced to take one year of French, being a second official language and all. I really would have liked to take another language, but our school doesn't offer any.
