Two Emerging NZ Bands

Postby CreatureArt » Fri Apr 29, 2005 3:12 am

I'm really into New Zealand music: we have a lot of really good local bands considering the size of our population.

I just wanted to let everyone know about two really great Christian bands that are heading over to the USA to further their music careers and encourage you to look out for them.

First of all, the band Steriogram. Their most well-known song is 'Walkie Talkie Man' which features on the trailer for the new Pixar(?) movie 'Robots'. It's also played in the movie. It's a really awesome song, and though I haven't heard many of their other songs, another one named 'White Trash' is really good. Their music video for the first song has played on MTV. It's pretty cool: the whole set and everything was 'knitted' and the overall effect of the animation and everything is really unique and awesome. From what I've heard they're a mainstream Christian band, which I guess to mean that they don't have much praise and worship but just some good, clean rock.

The second band is Detour 180, though I think they might be just known as Detour now. They've signed to Bridge Street Artist Agency (who also represent Audio Adrenaline) which is based in Nashville. I've read that they've spent a lot of time in the US already, so I'm not sure if anyone's heard of them or not.

Well, there's my little plug for some Christian New Zealand bands, in case you ever hear of them in your area. I hope you don't mind: I'm very passionate about kiwi Christian music and wanted to try and spread the word a little. Thanks for taking the time to read through this. :)
