Much ado about hugging

Talk about anything in here.

I love hugging!! Both my parents have been very affectionate my whole life, and I've just followed their example. If I'm talking with a friend and they are walking with some one I don't know, I'll introduce myself and give them a big hug. They're lucky though, because I usually do the double kiss on the cheek thing (I do that with family and close friends). My grandpa's french, and I was raised with that.

I'm a friendly person. lol.

I wish people wouldn't shake my hand. The OCD gets to me and I always have to wash my hands after. I try to be discreet about it as possible so as not to insult anyone.

I don't really feel the need to give hugs. After thinking about it, there are certain people that would like me to, like Em and my mom. Of course, Em won't let anyone leave without a hug if she can help it. There is also a young lady at school that gets hugs semi-regularly, but that's it from me.

I'm starting an anti-hug-faction. Boo on physical contact! Hugging should only be after you're married. : P

I'm all for hugs, unless I don't know you, or distrust you, or you seem... wonky. :) I hug my family, my close friends, and sometimes (female) acquaintances if the situation seems to call for it (like they're having a bad day, or a very good day, or they want to give me a hug, etc.). Hugs are usually good.

I remember when I went away to college, I really started to miss hugs after a few weeks. I didn't know anyone, at least not well enough to hug yet. One day, my Resident Assistant (sort of like a House Mother, but a peer) gave me a hug, and I almost cried right there. It was so nice to have human contact, like a drink of fresh rainwater after a long drought.

I don't hug anyone in our family except for Emmy and my mom. There is a lady at church who everytime she sees me she gives me a hug. I don't hug her back because she's kind of short not because I don't want to hug her.I'm not sure that makes much sense. Also at school I've started giving people hugs when I never used to before. I guess it's because this is my last year and I'll be leaving soon and I'm really going to miss everyone. Dang it, now I've gone and made myself teary eyed.

ooo, i am such a huggy person! i love giving hugs and getting them. but im careful with the people i exchange hugs with. inparticular: people i dont trust and girls who dont like hugs. im deffinately not a handshake kinda guy. if i were to see me dad and he would try to give me a handshake rather than a hug, i would be very offended. whenever i see mey friend bridgette (her real name is brittaney but i call her bridgette for some reason...), anyways, shes like 4'8 and im 5'9. so when we see each other, shell give me a great big hug around my neck and ill walk around with her stcuk on me! it is very funney, shes like a little sister or something! my parents have always been really affectionate so ya! i try not to shake hands with people anyways...i get grossed out when shaking someones hand. if i shake someones hand, after they leave i smell my hand and then wash it asap. you never know where that thing couldve been last... *shudders*

Not necessarily.

Well, the moment is gone, so the joke probably wouldn't be funny anymore, but I'll explain just a bit. OCD stands for obsessive compulsive disorder, but it can also stand for Order of Carmelites Discalced, a religious order at my seminary, and subjects of most of my bad puns.

I just moved away from home to live with my grandma. She's not extremely into hugging, and I'd rather not let her know I'm feeling down and lonely and stuff 'cause then she'll worry more than she does.
So yeah... I'm relating to the missing hugs and stuff in a place where I don't know anyone besides a few relatives who I don't feel comfortable opening up to at all.

I miss it a lot.

Maybe that's yet another reason I need to find a church "home" and meet other Christians.

That word is gaining popular acceptance... do you know what this means? Inclusion in dictionaries, and along with it word forms. "Wonky" is an adjective, which means that someone who has experienced such a situation has been "wonked." Someone who invites such is "wonkable." Worst of all, the noun form would be "wonk" as in the sentence: "I say there, good chap, that's a massive load of wonk."

Volt, at this point, yes...you do win cutest thing of the year award. Sibling relationships like that are very popular out here in the middle of the woods South Georgia, but less common in other areas. As far as your future wives...I think they'll appreciate the closeness ^_^

Actually, I did look up the word the first time I saw it here on CAA. It's a British thing:

1 British : UNSTEADY, SHAKY
2 British : AWRY, WRONG

I like def. #2 the best, in context. :)

Incidentally, the noun "wonk" (and it IS a word) means "nerd."

But I do appreciate your short treatise on the wonkiness of the English language.

I don't even wanna know what "wonk" would be described as. And I recently figured out who your style of typing reminded me of: JRR Tolkien.
