Talk about anything in here.

I know that the chat part of it isn't coming up for a while yet but I just wanted to point out that YIM has a much larger capacity for entering in text to send. That's especially useful for posting scripture verses. In AIM, most of the time I find that verses have to be typed/pasted in many small pieces.

You're so right. YIM is so much better for putting in longer pieces of text.

once a week with daily homework sounds great, especially since i'm not sure about computer access where i'll be working, since i will be staying in employee dorms most of the week, and only know of computer access for sure at home.

gives me something to be looking forward to in June.

Wait a minute... did someone say daily homework? In that case, my mom won't let me...

How much of my time will this take?

Postby true_noir_chloe » Wed Apr 13, 2005 8:32 pm

I see everyone is concerned about the amount of work.

This is how it works: The study is broken down into a week, which is five lessons for each week. At our weekly chat we will discuss the five lessons. Now, you split those up any way you want.

For myself, I prefer to spend time with the Lord in the morning anyway, so it works out well to spend time in these devotional Bible studies once every morning for five days out of my seven day week. However, if I am busy I will split up the days. Sometimes, if something comes up I might have to do two days in one session.

It is not set in stone that you have to do "homework" every single day. They are five lessons that you should do by the weekly chat. The lessons can take 20 minutes, if you just do the lesson, or longer if you spend a lot of time in prayer. Mine always average 40+ minutes. That just seems to be how it works out for me. Everyone is different. Also, I'm not a fast reader and especially once I get into a passage of Scripture, I tend to read more than is asked of me - huh, I'm nerdy that way.

So, please don't feel too overwhelmed. ^__^;;

This study is geared to adult women, so if you are under 16, this may be more work than you are used to. It would be great if you looked through the materials at a book store or library and get an idea of what you will be doing. I know for my 13-year-old, she has to split the lessons up, so that she does half of a day's work each day.

Okay, I hope that helps with some of the questions. ^____^

Woah, surprise! My mom is doing the same exact study now XD

she says she loves it and when I asked if I could do this with you guys, she said it would be okay. She also suggested I get the online version of the book so I could watch the videos too. I don't really have anymore info about this (I'll ask her later) but this may be a good thing for people who can't buy the book. ^^

AIM is easier for me... but if everyone would rather have YIM I can be flexible and use Trillian.

I'm sure we can work something out. I know we're planning on offering the transcripts every week for those that miss, so if you keep up with your homework and read them, I'm sure you'll grow. And of course you may join us whenever you're able to.

I didn't even know they had a version to see the Beth Moore studies online. o_o wow, that would be great if we could get a hold of that. I'm going to pm you later, Kawaii. Thanks.

So I was finishing up stuff in the workbook for the last study (I got a bit lazy toward the end  ) and I wanted to look up the video session answers on the old thread and I saw this thread and I realized that the last study was a real blessing and reading through the workbook today has been very calming and peaceful compared to my recent floating along ignoring God behavior so I'm thinking I would really love to do another study with y'all over the summer if ya wouldn't mind having me along despite my not being around CAA that much since winter.

As to questions/concerns about the study:
I don't currently have YIM but I can get it so no biggy if everyone really prefers it. As to the meetings, when would they be? I am totally looking forward to spending a whole lot of time with my family this summer so internet would be an 'after my sibs and everyone go to bed' (around 8ish) kinda thing so as to maximize time with them. (and if it's on saturday I have church saturday evening (as does Lynx who also expressed interest) but I guess you don't need my entire schedule so i'll quit rambling about it now)

B- not sure yet again, i'm going to try to get weekends off, but i won't know about that until the beginning of May... >.<

A- Most days should work after 8 pm central time
B- weekends would be slightly better
C- night is definitely the best.

My work schedule is currently pretty stable but I'm my grandma's transportation to doctors' appointments, which usually take place on weekdays.
I have no other activities that would take me away from the computer beyond that.

I'd love to join!! ^^ Also, I have a friend who hasn't joined yet, but really wants to join by June and participate in the study.
A- Saturday is the best, but Friday would be okay too.
B- Weekends
C- Night, around 9:00 pm. But since my mom knows I am going to do the study, I am sure she could let me get on earlier, or on a different day. ^^

B- either way could work.
C- whatever.

I might be gone for a week in June (somewhere in the teens). Other than that, I think I'm free.

oh yeah... I'm gonna be gone at least two weeks for bible camps, but I'm sure they'd be fine with me taking some time to do the hw there. As for the meetings... I'll have to get the transcripts or whatever they're called.

Best days: not sure yet, but Tuesday and Thursday nights are definitely out of the question for me. I'd imagine Friday-Sunday would work best, though.

Weekend or weekday: Definitely the weekends.

Best time of day: Late afternoons or nights, though my days are either all spare time or none at all, so provided I'm there the time of day usually won't matter for me.
