Is everyone given the same "Warm Welcome" As I was?

Talk about anything in here.

Is everyone given the same "Warm Welcome" As I was?

Postby Misaou » Sun Apr 24, 2005 2:58 pm

the last time I was here about a month ago, I asked a simple question, and a few people chewed me up on it. This time, I said Hello and told them how my drama team's performence (which is in fact leading lots of people to Christ) and this person comes and tells me off about that too! Some "Warm welcome".
i may not know much about this site, please, forgive me for being so blunt, but i have nothing really to reccommend about this site right now. I just want to be around other Christians who like anime, and I just came here to find out that people don't like Newbies. it sort of hurt my feelings. If this kind of post is against the rule, I'm sorry, but there is just no excuse. I Know there are some nice people here, but the ones that have talked to me have just been rude and mean!
I'm sorry if this offended you, those of you who are meanies, but it doesn't say much for people who are Christain Anime fans. I'm not sure If I'll come back as ofter as I had planned.
thanks you for reading this.

Since you are a new one here, please give this place more chances. If you want to go, that's OK too, but maybe if you stay longer you can find friends!

I'm sorry that you weren't welcome very good... You read all the rules, yes? Sometimes we can't post things because their is too much opinion that changes in the membership. (and.. I hope you understood that because I don't know how to say it  haha) People start to fight.

Or... sometimes when you post, it begins a fight any way, and the admins have to lock the thread. It's just like that because admins don't want any fighting here, and, there is just some people who like to point out when they don't agree with others. Every one is different, so some people won't get along with others~

If you decide to stay, I hope you find finally a good time here. See you~

[goes to see about the thread you were talking about..]

Considering that probably only 5% of CAA members visit the Welcome section (forgive me if my numbers are wrong, I suck at numbers ;) ), I will encourage you to reconsider your conclusions about the forum as a whole.

I never had any problems with newbies. Good griefy, why should we? We all used to be newbies ourselves at one point of time. Admittedly, I rarely visit the Welcome section because the whole forum is huge, my time online is limited and I have to start prioritizing the sections I visit to.

You're going to meet meanies everywhere you go and I'm sorry if you felt everyone you've met so far were less-than-friendly. I guess I take comfort that at least the meanies here have way more self-control than most forums I've been to (haha). Oh yeah about the previous thread, just know that ppl don't necessarily respond to a new thread straight away. Please try to be more patient (I usually wait a whole day for a decent response).

Anyway, hope to see you around. You might miss out in something good if you give up on this place too quickly. (^_^)

Hi Misaou!

First of all, welcome to the site. I'm sorry you had a bad experience or two. I looked through all your posts and the replies, and I see how you feel about the drama team post. You kinda' had some back luck there; it seems one person might've been in a bad mood and decided rather bluntly to point out the rule against double-posting, and the other person felt very strongly about the Columbine incident. I wouldn't judge the whole board on 2 people's responses, though.

I also looked through your thread "Is Anime Against God?" It seems to me that most everyone that replied to you there was nice.

I know that the negative replies seem to stick with us more, because they hurt. But the vast majority of people who have responded to you were friendly, in my opinion.

I fell bad that you got off on such a rough start. You must have just posted on a couple of issues that can be a bit touchy. It happens to almost everyone, even good seasoned members (sorry if that sounds too much like a description of meat) make errors in judgement over what to post.

I have I have found that if you listen to the mods, and don’t deliberately try to start fights, things go quite nicely.

Well, welcome to the CAA, anyway. I hope your stay is enjoyable.

Well, this thread intrigued me. So i searched all your posts. And all I could think of was "just how old are you?". Cause nobody chewed you out :) they simply slightly disagreed with you. And as you can see, i'm pretty much a newbie too.

just don't sulk when people don't answer your posts immediately. :-) heehehe.

Firstly, I'd like to say greetings  Welcome to CAA and all that ;)

the last time I was here about a month ago, I asked a simple question, and a few people chewed me up on it. This time, I said Hello and told them how my drama team's performence (which is in fact leading lots of people to Christ) and this person comes and tells me off about that too! Some "Warm welcome".

Unfortunately, this happens a fair bit here (but definitely alot less than elsewhere I might add). I, myself, was pulled to pieces for simply saying that we should be careful of what we watch.

However, CAA isn't like that on the whole. Normally it only gets ugly whenever someone talks about political stuff or even spiritual things. Take for example your play; it had references to the Columbine massacre, and hence would touch alot of old wounds on this subject.

I would encourage you not to be discouraged by a few mishaps; CAA can be friendly and alot of fun. Though if you will want to be posting about political issues, be prepared to be argued against and perhaps insulted.

Hi Misaou,

I am truly sorry you've had a rough start, and that you did not feel welcomed here. Truthfully I used to make a point of greeting new members, but the numbers got crazy and being limited in time meant I had to stop. I had no idea anyone was feeling less-than-loved for it though.

CAA is not perfect. We've all said things we shouldn't have. I only ask that you give us a second chance, and see what we have to offer. Even if you only see our review database and never touch the forums, we can still serve you and that's all I care about.

Sorry you had a bad experience there. But like everyone else has said the majority of the membership here on CAA is friendly and helpful. As long as you avoid posting controversial things you really shouldn't have a problem with anyone. So don't be disheartened because of that and please come back.

only a few people were mean to me. At least, to me, what they said was hurtful. I'm not saying all of you are mean, just some of you. hardly any, I think

Hey Misaou!
Well, I'm new too, newer than you, I think. So, Hi! On boards like this, or at least ones I've been on in the past, there's a period where newbies just sort of have to play it by ear, you know? Sort of wait until everyone gets to know them. I hope that, if you stay, the rest of your time here is pleasant. Just remember, we all have bad days. I've had some doozies. I bet no one even intended to be rude or to slight you, they just sort of did. I know I'd like to get to know you. I hope you stay on.

I think it's the general nature of forums across the internet that when someone
puts up a topic that's deemed a bit controversial there ends up to be a lot more heat than light.
Just take the time to cool off and not let what anyone says get to you or make it
too personal.
It's bound to happen in even the friendliest confines of the most Christian forums.
I myself am a bit outspoken from time to time when it comes to something I beleive deeply in and because I'm one of those people who have a partial Celtic
ancestry(Scots,Irish,Welsh)I can be a bit mean at times when I loose my temper.
(The fact that I have also a partial Germanic background German,Swiss,Dutch and
eveyrone's fave Anglo Saxon also makes me a bit stubborn as well.)
So have a nice time and try not to let what other people say scare you off.

 MSP: It wasn't ME you annoyed, it was everyone. No hard feelings though, only laughs. Ash hit the nail on the head though. Before the massive culling of the member list, we're just shy of 7k newbies here at one point or another. As you can probably imagine, it's tough to greet everyone personally. Don't feel too bad, though. Stories like this inspire me to figure out how to "fix" the gap here.

I also hope that you do not leave the forum. FOr one, I myself am very new and one of my first posts was actually locked because I hadn't really read the rules too welll.......oops! rather embarrassing...
all in all i think this is a good place with a lot of good people. Don't let the few ruin it for you.
Someone already said it, but, I must reiterate that even in Christain circles you are going to find a few people who may not completely think through how something they say is going to affect another person. It is part of being human to err....
anyways, I hope that you stay.

aww don't worry about it misao (*doesn't remember how to spell your name* >.>) ^^ when I first came here I got jumped on for asking how to make dvds (copyright issues and stuff). Sometimes you just can't say exactly what you mean online and it can cause little fights. All of the people involved got over it though and we settled it nicely over PM and all was well ^^

on another note, coming here to CAA was amazing for me. I had come from anime boards where flaming n00bs and such was quite normal and I had to tread carefully. The people were nice to the regulars of the board (well... kinda nice... mean in a nice teasing way ^^ friendly in a meanish way) so you had to like work your way up. Here people were VERY VERY nice to me when I first joined and I was actually very amazed. I <3 CAA~
