Do not discuss?

Postby This is Song » Tue Apr 19, 2005 2:13 pm

I saw there was a list of anime titles that cant be talked about T_T and I think there is probably people here who like some of those titles (like me)

Yah, I know they bring up touchy issues and things of a sinful nature, but i also think that only by talking about the things that are sinful instead of banning everything to do with them can we learn to overcome sin and stare it in the face T_T

I think you guys should start a subforum where controversal issues and anime can be talked about in a civil manner (it'd be heavily watched over by mods of course)

But yeah thats just my 2 cents on the topic ^^;

Honestly, I thought the same thing when I first showed up here, but now that I've seen the nurturing environment that these regulations create I completely support the DND list. There are plenty of places on the internet where I can discuss those titles, even a few Christian ones, but I've had a hard time finding a place as civil as the CAA. Restricting my discussion of a few titles to private mesages, instant messages, e-mail and the rest of the world wide web is a small price to pay for this unique haven.

Well, I think the mods made it clear that this is a site for all ages and they don't want to have to deal with the added complications of an "adults only" christian anime site. Arguments tend to cause bad feelings, so it's best to keep out the material that seems likely to cause widespread hostility.

As the two above have stated, while the idea of a do no discuss list makes some people a little upset, you'll understand once you hear a couple people duke it out over one of the titles.

In a perfect world, we might not need a do not discuss list, because people could TRULY discuss something in a "civil manner." Unfortuneately, we live here in a world where people get their point across by clawing those with opposing views. In this world we live in, a friendly place like CAA can only be maintained with the help of the DNDL.

[Just a quick note, the DNDL is not a "If you enjoy this, you are going straight to Hell" list. It's just a list created to keep the boards from digressing into petty shouting matches.]

*Salutes DNDL*
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Yeah. What's been posted is pretty much the deal. We (mods) don't have the spare time to watch a sub-forum like that. I'm afraid it's not really open for discussion.
