Are you guys more or less "outgoing?"

Postby kodachrome64 » Fri Apr 15, 2005 3:58 pm

Are any of you more outgoing or do you like to have most of the time for yourself? There are some people that like to go out and hang with friends every other day, while there are other people (who are almost polar-opposites) that enjoy doing hobbies by themselves. I myself fall in the latter because I usually feel exhausted entertaining my friends all day. I like having the company of friends once every few weeks. I usually feel a lot better when I enjoy activities that suit me as an individual.

I kind of enjoy keeping to myself but at the same time I enjoy hanging with friends. I am definatly not a large group person though. I guess you can say, I am an introvert who enjoys spending time with my friends. I am still a little shy around new people even though I am almost 20!

To sum it up... I like to socialize but I know how to enjoy time alone as well. :thumb: :hits_self
The Straight and Narrow

I chose to walk the straight and narrow road, but one day I lost balance and fell off it. I had fallen onto some sharp rocks and injured myself. There were people passing by who would merely stare at me, and then keep walking. Thoughts of worthlessness entered into my mind, and as I chose to believe the lies, my wounds grew worse. I was so overcome with grief that I nearly gave up... but then a man walked up to me and stopped. Without saying a word, he started to wrap my wounds, he gave me some water, and then lifted me up and embraced me. He then whispered these words into my ear, "I love you my child." As he said those words I could feel all the worthlessness and despair fall away. He then held out his hands. They had huge holes in them. He then said, "Walk with me." I then took his hand and we walked together. Every now and then I would fall from the road, but no matter where I fell, he was always there to pick me up and tell me that He loved me.

Naturally, my work involves being around people a great deal of the time. Therefore, I guard those times that I reserve for family and they are very supportive of the times I need to just be by myself.

I like seeing my friends any time I can! I love hanging with friends so much! I like being alone too...but not as much as being with friends.

I Love lots of me time! I see my best friend at least once a week but that’s enough for me. I'm a true introvert but once I warm up to new people they are very special to me ^-^ which is hard for some people to understand, my parents understand tho and my dad is even more of an introvert then I am.

I love to hang out with my friends. They're people I cxan laugh with, have fun with, talk to, and explain things too. Mainly cause my friends go through the same things I do. They're like my escape from the world ^o^ But of course, I definatly appreciate some alone time so I can play some guitar or homework or just relax and not be all energetic ^___^

it depends on who I'm with and wether or not I'm online or off ^_^;; with my family I'm EXTREMELY outgoing lol, but with strangers, or people I've just met, or haven't known for long I'm EXTREMELY shy @_@;; online I'm outgoing most of the time, not as much as with my family, but still outgoing, but it depends on what mood I'm in sometimes;; yes, I am a complicated person XD;;;;

I used to be very introverted back when I was in high school and everything. I hated being with people a lot.

I started really getting online just after high school. Somehow, that made me far more outgoing in my other relationships and how I reacted to people I didn't know well.
At college, I'd actually *start* conversations with people. Before, that wouldn't have happened. =p

Now I enjoy being with people. I prefer groups of around 7 or less (like I could ever get a group of friends that large anyway :P... oh well).

I'm very outgoing at work. I have to be. Customer service is the top priority at the retail/grocery store where I work, so I have to be able to go up to random people and ask if they need help with anything. Having that kind of job for several months is getting rid of most of the obvious shyness, but I'm pretty sure I'll still have it as part of my personality when I'm in a more casual setting.

Talking with people who are more outgoing also rubs off a bit.

I still enjoy time to myself occasionally, but not anywhere near as much as before. :) I think that's better for me.

Um. . . both. Just depending on the situation. If I've had a tough week, I'll pass on a party. If I haven't done much with a group of friends and they decide to go out for ice cream, I'll happily join them. It all just depends.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I'd say I'm generally less outgoing. I do like socializing, and I'd like to think I'm pretty good at conversing with anyone if necessary (or if I feel like it). That said, I'd work at having more friends, but I don't have the energy most of the time, so I just do stuff alone mostly.

Actually, I hate to admit it, but I do require the company of other human beings more often than I'd prefer. I CAN be really outgoing, but for some odd reason, for the past six months, I chose to waste my life in front of the computer. :eyeroll:

It depends....

To be honest I'm not too outgoing. I'm not anti-social, just not into being around a bunch of people I don't know... So yeah, I don't goto parties. Actually, I've never really been to one. Sad isn't it?

Sometimes, when I get the feeling that I need to get out I go out and shoot some hoops, or just drive. I like to have time to myself to think and organize my thoughts. Plus, it makes me feel better.

Although it may seem I'm anti-social, I'm really not. I enjoy hanging out w/ my friends and talking. They always try to get me out to party but I refuse. I just don't think it's my scene; doesn't feel right for me. I can't dance anyways or feel comfortable talking to random people I don't know.

myself fall in the latter because I usually feel exhausted entertaining my friends all day. I like having the company of friends once every few weeks. I usually feel a lot better when I enjoy activities that suit me as an individual.

I know exactly what you're saying, I feel the same much of the time. My friends sometimes seem like total opposite then me. So thus I have to really keep a lot my interest to myself because they don't like many of my hobbies. Sometimes, it's just easier to do thing myself... may not be the ideal life, but yeah...

hmm. I'm an introvert in many ways...I love/need alone time, I tend to disappear into my thoughts sometimes, and highly boisterous extroverted people scare me unless i'm up to matching the pace and trust them LoL. But yeah, I still love people and in small groups with those i trust/love, i'm never happier. ^_^

I often get in trouble for being 'too quiet', but then people who've known me for a while tend to complain about my tendency to natter. So it all depends. For the most part though, I'm quite the introvert. I like listening to other people, which sometimes weirds them out when they realize that I haven't really said anything for a few minutes, aside from responses to what they are saying.

I definately know what you mean about this. Sometimes my friends plan on going places that seemed fun for them. But usually I turn them down because I don't want to be dragged into somewhere that I won't have fun. Home is where I have the most fun and it seems to be the place where I am more myself...

I'm almost never ever bored at my house, so sometimes I can be "anti-social". (I'm homeschooled, so not much of a social life, sadly.) But once I get out, any other day of the week, I'm game for almost anything with anyone.

It seems to me that "outgoing" isn't always "good." I think Castro, Stalin, Hitler etc are pretty good examples of that. I was always in my own little world growing up. I could be in a group of people trying not to stick out and then BAM I'd say something off the wall and stop conversation cold. I was alway a computer nerd, and in a hick town that's not a "cool thing." When I got to college, however, my prepinsity toward technial stuff got me into mischeof, and therefor earned me "cool points." I think I better not say anything else; I might get some people here in trouble and I wouldn't want to corrupt young minds. Er, moreso than usual.

Anyway, I became a bit more out going a that point, and realized I really liked it. Now I tend toward being the "life" of a party, rather than it being the "death" of me.

Humanity, it seems, has a singularaly odd delta....
