Who doesn't like rock?

Postby anime4christ » Fri Apr 15, 2005 6:20 pm

I was just wondering how many ppl here don't like rock? I personally don't, even though a lot of my friends do. It's just the way I am. I know rock is the most popular type of music, so I was just curious. One more thing, be nice, I respect rockers even though I don't like their music.

Edit: I just noticed that this is my 100th post. Yay!

Green Day's a punk rock band. their old stuff is cool but the new stuff is...not to my liking.

so what other kinds of music do you like, if you don't like rock?

I love rock, but I also like.....

Classical
Jazz
Rapcore
Raggae

The only stuff I cannot listen to is country of any kind...folk stinks too. I also have a strong loathing of rap. But other then that, I can listen to just about anything.

Pop isn't rock? I guess I'm not all that clear on definitions. I would have called techno and dance rock as well. I guess I really am getting old. Next thing you know, it'll be me yelling, "TURN THAT NOISE OFF, WHIPPER-SNAPPER!"

well, there's pop and there's pop-rock (I don't like pop-rock). Dance and techno are way not rock, although a few ppl have managed to mix them in some songs. ^_^

Although I try to keep my music tastes on the diverse side, I will always love rock, first and foremost. I just love the sheer variety within the genre and the history behind it, and for me, nothing beats the passion that can be found in a good rock song. I love the drumming, the guitars, the bass, the wailing vocals, and everything about the sound.

Yup, I think I'll always be a rocker chick

Sorry, I like rock. ^^ I also like pop...sometimes, I don't know whether I'm listening to pop or rock. In fact, I think the song I'm listening to is pop. Other forms are OK, but the things I don't entirely get are the rappers rapping about how much bling they got.

Oh wait, I don't actually get heavy metal either. Soft rock is the way to go.

My heart lies in heavy, death, thrash, goth, any kind of metal unless it's has lots of cussing or deep satanic references.

I also like rock, soft rock, techno, orchestra, jazz, oldies, old punk, blues, and ska. So I like bands such as Children of Bodom (though they cuss -_-;;; ), to Jennifer Knapp to Switchfoot to Yoko Kanno to The Beatles to Beanbag.

Rock is probably my favorite genre of music but I like allot of other things too, actually I don't think there is any type of music I completely dislike though rap comes close. [no offence to those who like it]

I like Rock of Ages and When the Roll is Called Up Yonder.

Seriously, that's a tough one for me to answer because I really have no preference of one style over another. It depends on the song itself and whether the instruments and vocalists perform chaotically or not. In other words, songs that sound as though someone's killing the instruments greatly turn me off -- whatever the genre. (When I write music I try to actually make it sound good. ^_^ )

How's that for an answer? ^_~

I wish there had been a noncomital answer, because I like some but not all rock. I put in yes.

Same here, I'm no big fanatic over Nirvena, but Linkin Park's OK.
I put yes.
