Favorite "genius" character...

Postby kodachrome64 » Thu Apr 14, 2005 5:16 pm

I was curious to know who all of your favorite smart characters are in a series. For me, it has to be Yayoi Fujisawa from Stellvia as she is an ace at flying a Bianca spacecraft, as well as her studies. Also Chiyo-chan from Azumanga Daioh comes to a close second for being a child-prodigy at age 10. :)

Fujisaki Suguru from Gravitation *<---no further discussion about this title, please* or Leon Geist from Star Ocean EX. =3 I also have a soft spot for Radical Edward of Cowboy Bebop fame.

I vote first for Conan Edogawa the alter ego of Jimmy Kudo on Case Closed
aka Detective Conan because of his peculiar circumstances, next I would also say Ed from Cowboy Bebop because she is just so freaky funny! :thumb:

Osaka from Azumanga Daioh is untapped Genius. Takahashi Ryousuke from Initial D is my favorite. EVen though he is not perfect I like how he uses his intelligence to think ahead and improve his team's driving skills

For me, I'd have to also agree on Ed from Cowboy Bebop. But can we forget Little Washu from the various Tenchi incarnations. There's also the Elder from Chrono Crusade (though he may a little.... ahem.... perverted). Kokobungi (sp?) from Chobits also comes to mind; I mean seriously, the kid's what 12 years old? and he's made top notch persocoms!

Well... the only 'smart' character that I can think of is Dexter (from Dexter's Lab)... but he's not from an anime :(.
Still my favourite 'smart' character though

Very likely Shikamaru of Naruto. He's a genius of realistic level, yet obviously highly intelligent.

Kanzaki Urumi from GTO...she's scary smart. In her acts of classroom terrorism, she does such things as purposely leaves the oxygen on from an oxygen tank when a teacher is demonstrating an experiment and blowing all of the windows out through the whole school in revenge for the greif her teachers have caused their class. She also stands up in class to correct teachers when they make little mistakes...drives em' crazy.

Then there's always Shikamaru...he's l337...how many child prodigy ninjas do you know that can plan a battle 100 steps in advance? Well, how many? :P

Jing the Pirate King was most definitely a genius...and I believe Kino from Kino no Tabi was as well...she's very bright.

Kanzaki takes the cake though.

Offhand, I would say that Ruri from Nadesico is my favorite, although Shikamaru was the first to come to mind. As far as computer geniuses go, Satsuki from X is a good character.

My vote goes to Shikamaru (Naruto) and Detective Conan (Case Closed). While the latter was a little arrogant at first, he eventually toned down his boasting and learnt to be more concerned about solving cases for other ppl's sake, rather than for his own glory. Shrinking into a kid sure helped to shrink his ego as well. *nods*

Shikamaru wasn't impressive at first too with his couldn't-care-less attitude. But he eventually would realize how important his skills and intelligence would be to his friends/teammates.

It's great to see these characters learn how to use their given talents to serve others.

Ten-Chan from Pita-Ten because he's so darn cute and not meaning to be smart, but is naturally. I also have a soft spot for Chiyo-chan, and Yukino Miyazawa from Kareshi Kanojo no Jijyou.

I saw this and had to add in my favorite geniuses, Youzen, Taikoubou, Outenkun, and Fukki. They're from Houshin Engi. Who can not love the egoistic freak named Youzen? While he does get annoying at times, he endures. Then there's Taikoubou, who's so brilliant he's stupid and who's so stupid he's brilliant. Outenkun's methods are dirty and cruel, but he still deserves admiration. And last, but not least Fukki.
Well, saying Fukki's a favorite when Taikoubou and Outenkun are already favorites is repetative (Taikoubou+Outenkun=Fukki, therefore Fukki is beyond cool). There's not much to say about him. He's an amazing manipulator, strategist, and designer. Who else can acurately predict the course of events 2000 years ahead of time and execute his plans the way he did his? I'm not going to say anymore on this because it's a spoiler like none other.
Along with Conan and Ed I would have to include Rebecca from the current
Awaking The Dragons storyline on Yu-Gi-Oh! one reason is I like the way she
got Tea all jealous when they meet her for the first time and she called Yugi
her boyfriend!

I'm going with the barefoot wonder Ed from Cowboy Bebop. She's brilliant, adorable, and the only girl I know who has the unmitigated gall to wear goggles!

However, and I am suprised that nobody mentioned him yet, runner up is Koushiro "Izzy" Izumi from Digimon seasons 1 and 2.

Jing was awesome. But he's not the Pirate King, he's the Bandit King!

My favorites are definitely Koushiro (Izzy) Izumi from Digimon, Minoru Kokobunji from Chobits, & (of course) Radical Edward.

Ed. Ami, the kid from Detective Conan (why did they have to change his name, anyhow? That always pisses me off...), Ruri, Chiyo...

As for Osaka, she's my favorite character, for sure, but she's... Definately no Genius... Hahahaha...

As for adults, I can't think of any Genius adult characters I like, but "intelligent" characters, I'd have to say the, uh, crossdressing teacher from Strawberry Eggs... He has his stupid moments, but he ends up being the smartest teacher at that school (despite being a P.E. Teacher) which I just think was great. If that series had a tad bit less fanservice and a tad bit less, um, rorikon (those two idiots in the appartment house...) I'd show this to a lot of people... I just love it, but the fanservice and pervy neighbors make that impossible... *sigh*
