Comcast DNS Server Problems

Postby Mr. SmartyPants » Thu Apr 07, 2005 7:59 pm

anyone having problems with comcast right now? as in having internet being cruddy? I did, till i changed my DNS server

1. How to change your DNS server

1. Go to your control panels
2. go to your network connections
3. right click your primary connection and click on "properties"
4. under general tab, click the internet protocol tcp/ip connection (DONT UNCHECK) and click properties.
5. change ur settings to input your own DNS server... and make change your primary to a different one

I am currently on this IP: 69.56.237.50

that shoudl fix your internet issues, and comcast will fix their issues by morning, so you can revert back to theirs by automatically connecting to it

May I know what type of problems you are referring to? I use comcast too and I seem to have problems accessing other websites apart from CAA since yesterday. :shady:

Are you serious!? I just posted a thread in the Tech forum because I'm having the same problem. I can access CAA and I can do some limited stuff on Google, but everything else is giving me the "This page cannot be displayed" business.

Did you do anything to fix it or did it just clear up?

A question I am asking myself, I assure you.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I have SBC DSL and have the same problem. It drags and I usually have to clear the internet storage, clean up files, run defrag and sometimes reboot. But if I use the internet (not CAA) I can go anywhere with no problems.

Hm, I have no problems whatsoever with Comcast, might it have anything to do with their recent speed upgrade?

I did have some problems with other sites, not including CAA, last night for a bit but I had places to go so I didn't worry about it. Came home an hour ago and it's all good.

But try it again after being on CAA for a few hours today and see if you have the same problem.

Um, MSP... Did you notice that CAA is using a STATIC IP ADDRESS INSTEAD OF A DNS ENTRY RIGHT NOW? I would wager THAT is the reson they didn't have DNS resolution issues with it earlier.

Allow me to demonstrate my ignorance of networking and ask "What's the difference between static IP address and a DNS entry?" <.< >.>;;

Btw, the problem seemed to have stopped for me. Strange...very strange.

Could very well explain it  . Didn't have these problems before the crash. So, I guess it's safe to presume that when you go back to normal, these problems will probably disappear?

I'm starting to wonder if this so called recent speed upgrade wasn't so much of a good idea.

I still have this feel that they are not fully done on having the DNS servers fix yet.

I had the problem last Thursday and haven't had the problem untill really yestersday.

Its like some pages will work and some will not. I'm having getting at times erorrs on my comcast home page as getting this. Features are unavailable at times in the start page.

Are they still upgrading on the speed upgrade or are still having a little problems with their DNS servers.

the only reason i was able to get to CAA was because my cache was stored like mad crazy... after clearing it I couldnt view CAA anymore... i changed my DNS server then boom everything was hunky dorey... so i figured...

bleh im all confused now o_O too early, gotta go to school T_T

and mavey wavey, its not strange that everything is working now because.... comcast repaired their defective stuff
