Daylight-saving Time

Postby Yahshua » Fri Apr 01, 2005 10:44 pm

For those of us in the United States tomorrow night do remember to set the clock one hour early for the Daylight-saving time.

Oh man, already? >.< Now I gotta adjust all over again...hehe

Thanks for the reminder, though...:)

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

I hate this!! ARGH! AND COMING OFF OF SPRING BREAK, TOO!
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I'd just as soon set it forward half an hour and then never have to bother with it ever again. (It just seemed like a good idea at the time... -_- )

Forward. It's stupid. Might have made sense in Agrarian times when everything was done by the sun, but serves no purpose today.

Not a bad deal. I get 2 gigs as a part of my broadband though, so I don't really need it

We'se up here in the corn fields of Indiana are just too dang backwards to set our clocks back. We have to use sundials and roosters.

Are you in the part that has it or the part that doesn't have it?
If memory serves me right(ACK!Turning into Kaga from The Iron Chef! )parts of Indiana and I believe the state of Arizona and one or two other States or parts of States don't have Daylight Savings Time.
And any way the only reason why we have it is it was adopted during
WWI as a war measure.
Can we blame this on the Germans still?

I don't mind getting up earlier, I get up a 7 everyday anyhow. And now, there will be more daylight!

We don't have it because like I said it's just too complicated for our ignorant corn shuckin minds.:eyeroll: Daylight savings was put into effect so factories could stay open an extra hour earlier during WW1 conserving electricity and such.

I live in Arizona, we have our OWN timezone. We never change at all, although daylight savings annoys me because it re-arranges the TV schedule and I missed Joel Osteen this morning...so that just sucks

Daylight savings is EVIL! It will be really bad for me though, because my dad will be in Arizona for a few weeks. Since they don't have daylight savings, we will be three hours apart. Because of his work schedule I won't be able to call him until 10pm. It's ridiculous. Anyway, I recently found out the whole idea was started by an avid golfer so I blame golf. DOWN WITH GOLF! DOWN WITH GOLF! :thumbsdow :shake: :thumbsdow

I like DST. I like it when it stays light after 10:00. It's standard time I'm not to fond. I think what most people don't like is changing the time. I know I don't. I drive East to get to work and because of the time change and when I report to work, I have to drive into the sunrise four times a year instead of twice.

DST does save energy. With the sun staying up until later, we use less energy to light our houses in the summer months. Japan is currently looking at passing a law to bring DST there. My point is this: Having DST is basically admitting that all of us are off by one hour. Why not just change the clocks permanently? Change it in every time zone around the world. Then we can have the extra daylight in the summer and not go through the pain of changing time twice a year.
