Kung Fu HUSTLE

Yeah! Another Stephen Chow flick! From what I've heard, it's just as good as Shaolin Soccer.

Thoughts?

Haven't seen the movie yet, but I've heard it's like Looney Tunes crossed with a martial arts film. I can't wait to see it. Shaolin Soccer was such a blatantly cheesy movie, and I can only imagine how cheesy they'll make this one intentionally for laughs.

Cheesy + Asian Films = Some pretty funny stuff.

Though the movie IS rated R, I will do my best to create a fake parent out of wood and a rock.

I already watched it and it's my favorite Stephen Chow movie to date. The reason for the R is that it's also his most violent movie to date. There's not really as much blood as there is bloodless limbs getting cut off except for a scene paying homage to The Shining ;) (It's pretty sad I'm the only one who laughed in the whole theatre in Jakarta because most likely I'm the only one who got the reference).

One thing for sure, it's more ANIME then looney tunes. Yes there's one or two scenes that are straight out a Roadrunner episode but the fight scenes are SO anime that you can just sit back go "wow".

Well, I loved it a lot, and I'm definitely watching it again with my mom when it comes out here ^^ Just be aware that the R is for violence of the chopping off limbs kind (mostly CG).

I gotta watch this when it comes here. I really enjoyed Shaolin Soccer, so this hould be funny. The previews were enough to pull me in. R? Well, if it's for that, my parents should let me watch it...we'll see!

So, I'm pretty much the only person on the thread who can legally see it alone? ;)

I'm interested. I didn't like Shaolin Soccer, but this sounds more like my speed.

Just saw it imported from ( Were else?) China and WOW.

Everything except the story is just...AWSOME.
fights are incredible, humor is off the top, and somehow it has a morale! o.0

The one thing that made it "eh" was the whole plot,
goodguywhowantstobad storys are kinda eh in my book.
Still,
THE OLD LADY WHO RUNS THE JOINT IS A PERFECT REASON TO WATCH. remember the road runner lady? SHES AWSOME
Has for the rating ( ARRR)
mostly its just wacky disemberments lol, like heads twisting (Looney Tunes style).
Hope no one got their day ruined... :P

I saw a trailer for it and I definitely want to see it. It looks incredible. And rather odd. Fortunately, I am over the age of 17 and don't need parental consent. I'm pretty sure my mother wouldn't like it.

Okay.

THREE good movies in a row? Can't be possible.

Last night I rented Ocean's 12, and Collateral. Today I go see KFH. If KFH is as good as I hope (and I'm sure it will be), I will have seen three great movies.

I saw it last night. Yes, it was very cheesey, but funny though. I knew nothing about it beforehand, but I liked it. Oh yeah, I really didn't think it deserved its R rating.

I doubled over laughing during the knife scene, and the snakes finished it off perfectly.

Yes, the knife seen was hilarious. Actually, there were a lot of funny/cool parts. I could have done without the roadrunner-type scenes though.

I haven't seen any dubs out for it. Besides, dubbing would ruin a few of the jokes.
