Attachments: Problems and some others

Greetings everyone,

I would like to find out whether there's a problem with CAA or my computer.

I use both FireFox 1.0.1 (whatever that means 0.o;; ) and IE 6, with the same problems. Windows XP. I use both an old laptop (Celeron XD;; ) and a relatively new desktop.

NOTE: This only happens in Goof Off. I haven't had problems in other threads but then again, I rarely post attachments in other threads.


Recent Problems
1) I cannot upload image attachments and they range from 30 to 150 kb in size each. I keep getting the dreaded error signs everytime I attempt to use attachments.

2) Some of my posts do not bump the threads up. I can see my post within the thread but I only see the previous poster's name in the overall forum view.

3) The attachments that supposedly disappeared in the error signs occasionally appear as thumbnails in the gallery. But when I click on them, they lead me to another image.

4) Just today, I found that I cannot see attachments unless I'm logged in.

5) I also found threads missing within the Comment section. Before posting this, I only saw 5 threads listed when I know that there are way more than that. Sometimes I see 5-6 threads, sometimes I see all of them.

Efforts
1) I cleared up the cookies in both browsers. No help.
2) I have the same firewall/security settings. I doubt this could be the problem but thought I'll let everyone know I considered this.
3) I've attempted this 3-4 times now at varying times (during peak hours and no peak hours (i.e. early wee hours of the morning), just in case, to check whether it was a server overload issue. No difference.

Anyone else? Just me? T__T
AngelSakura also has problems viewing attachments. One of chibi-chan's post didn't bump the thread. Is anyone else having problems? If so, pls let us know here. I think the admin/mods would like to know too.

I'm only posting this because I would like to know whether this is only my problem. I hope I gave all the necessary information and I'm sorry if this is solely a problem of mine (I don't want to trouble anyone with this).

My new attachments don't show up at all but my older ones apear just fine

Well things are down with our attachment database (complicated to explain) but we're aware of the problem and working on it, k? Please bear with us!

There are supposed to be 5 attachments (at least that's what I'm seeing upon clicking on attachment manager), the one that's not showing is a Jpg file.

I also cannot see the attachments if I'm not logged in. But it's nice to only have our attachments only available to registered members so I'm fine with that. Just wanted to let you know that. ^__^



Wait....you said 'new' attachments. So you mean the fixes won't affect old posts? Hmm...let me go make new attachments and see whether they work. *goes off*

I just tried to attach a 40kb jpg to a post http://66.92.1.159//showthread.php?p=375485#post375485
and it doesn't show up, but when I went to edit it, it was shown as being on the post.

Well, the IMAGES are showing up fine, it's the thumbnails that aren't... And since a lot of them are all that you can click on to see the image...

I didn't really understand what you mean, Oldphil. How can we click and see the images without the thumbnails?

EDIT: Never mind. I just realized that some threads do have attachments without the thumbnails. The above statement was referring to threads that have neither the attachments nor thumbnails (mostly in goof off). Eitherways, I can live with both. ^_^ Thanks!

Attempted to post an attachment (GIF) and found it would not upload. A new issue this week, so I thought I'd pass it along. After clicking upload, there still isn't any picture listed under the attachments.

There is no error message. It just goes back to the same screen as when you first press the "manage attachments button". The browse area (where you click to find the files on your comp) goes blank too.

OK. In the event that a user is subscribed to one of these threads (and hasn't read the announcement) the attachments are working again.
