If you could ask God one question...?

Talk about anything in here.

If you could ask God one question...?

Postby Kat Walker » Sun Mar 27, 2005 2:23 pm

What would it be?

I have a bunch, but I'd personally be most curious about how he "came into existence." What was it like for Him before He created all the beings He loves? What motivated Him the most in creating the universe?

(P.S. To all the heretic hunters out there, I know God is an uncreated Being who has no beginning as well as no end, I just want to see how the Great Creator can explain His complexity in a way us humans might be able to understand -- if possible.)

I'd ask him why he hates me, why he doesn't want me near him and why he wants me to suffer.

I'm glad you're not a troll, but with as little offense as possible... your post sounds somewhat inflammatory in nature. If you would perhaps elaborate on your position honestly rather than taking this as an blunt opportunity to angst and/or defame God's character, you'd come across as less troll-like. This is not an "Oh why is my life so horrible?!" therapy thread, this is about coming up with a creative and intelligent question you'd want to ask Him.

With that being said, I can assure you that neither God nor anyone here hates you in any way. All of us deal with feelings of depression and neglect for the simple reason that (aside from the fact that we're almost 95% hormonal teenagers here) life is indeed a difficult learning process. If you'd like to speak with us about your personal issues with God, please feel free to start an appropriate thread on the subject and people will be more than happy to share their experiences with you. Just PLEASE don't de-rail this one, k?

You're in my prayers, too.

That's a tricky question. Most likely, I believe I'd ask why He used Old Testament methodology before switching to Christ's form. I understand that we as humans are imperfect and cannot attain His perfect will, but that will be true regardless of the time period.

There are times when I've asked similar questions posted by Mr_Ross and I'm not a troll. I'm just being honest with myself and God. :P I've been in dark times when I cannot understand why I'm going through so much pain and confusion. "God why must I go through this? It's not fair, I hate my life so much, why won't you take my pain away? Do you hate me?...etc. etc" The answers do not necessarily come through straightaway and I still seek answers.

With that said, I guess I would like to ask what He thinks of the divisions within the Christian community and what's the right answer to the whole evolution discussion.

My question: What do you do for people who won't help themselves and for people who won't help others?

Why can't I ever get any CRIT cards in ragnarok online!?!

Heh, this thread made me recall my interest in Nikola Tesla during middle school. -He's the famous electrician rumored to have created the "Death Ray". Hehe.

Anyways, I would ask, being the sci-fi fan I am, what is all out there in space? I'm not just talking about if we are the only living beings and such, but in general, what's out there? -far past what we can clearly see with a telescope and such.

=) I'd love to ask: What would you appreciate more, Lord, a hug or a glomp?

I would probably ask what is it exactly He wants me to do here on earth. I mean specific things, like get a job there or go to uni there, marry him or remain single, etc.

Heh heh...that's been a running joke for a while in my case. That if I got to ask God one question, I'd walk up and say:

"So, only one question, huh?"

And God would reply, "Yes. Next!"

At any rate, I do not intend to defend myself in this thread should someone attack it, but hopefully everyone is DECENT enough not to insult me for saying this (HINT, HINT).

But I would ask God whether it took him literally six days to create Earth and everything/everyone on it, or if it took billions of years. That is the only question I'm really curious about.

Well, there's a difference between what I feel I *should* ask Him and what I'd *like* to ask Him. I think Talame was right on with what I should ask God: God, how can I best glorify You on Earth?

What I'd *like* to ask, well, the list is long, but most of the questions are things I have doubts about, for example, the essence of eternity, and thus would defeat the purpose of my having faith. I guess I just trust in God to give me the answers, if I need them, when I'm with Him in Heaven.

The funny thing is when ever I have questions for God I ask him and think about it. Suddenly the answer is right in front of me and I'm like "O!...Duh!" If you have a question for God you can try asking it. You might not get an answer, but it's worth a try.

God: ask me anything.
Volt: What is the smartest & most wise thing to ask you
God: (Example: )The meaning of the soul and spirit.
Volt: What's the meaning of the soul and spirit?
God: HA! I won't tell you! Because you alread wasted a question.
Volt: ... ... :sniffle:
God: just wait till you die, it's only fair, everyone else only got 1 question...
*gives volt a flower*
Volt:... pretty
God: that's the answer
Volt: for real?!
God: Yup :)
Volt: ... ... ...
God: *Shakes head*, Anyway, go back to earth you have college studies.

Some serious sneakiness with the movie references there, Volt. I almost missed it and still checked with my little brother to make sure I was right- Dogma is quite a crazy movie.

Anyway, I'd ask God for some tips on how to stop doing the stuff I know He really hates me doing. Like, I know that there are many things I do and say and think that make Him sad, and I know I should stop, so I'd ask for some help about stopping. Get it? Prob'ly not. Oh well, God does.

I just wish I could know if my family and friends will be in Heaven. I don't know if that's something that I'd be allowed to know, but it would definitely affect how I'd talk with them about Jesus and religion.

It wouldn't affect me on a daily basis like the first issue, but I'd also like to know when the soul enters and leaves the body.

Yeah- in the end of the movie, when the bad guys have been defeated or whatever, the lead actress asks the representation of God some question like 'Why are we here?', and the representation of God (for some reason played by Alanis Moriset) laughs and gives her a flower. Wierd coincidence, huh?

Initially, welcome, and I am sorry my first post directed to you must be administrative in nature.

I believe this thread is a great deal more serious in nature than your post happens to be. Also, while I'm not qualified to speak for God, it might be a good idea to ask Him questions more directly related to Him. This isn't a very critical issue, but your cooperation would be appreciated.

That is a strange coincidence. On this subject, I'll say that (other than the banal use of language) the portrayal of God was my biggest issue with the movie. The character was sort of merely pathetic.
