You need to stop looking at the sin and start looking to the Cross of Christ. If you spend more time with the Lord in prayer and deep Bible study it will definitely help. You know the song, "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace."
When Paul wrote in the epistles, most started in some form of this "that you may grow in His grace and knowledge." Do you know why? It is because as you grow closer to Him you love more, you see His truth more, and more importantly you realize that you are nothing without Him.
I still struggle with some sins that have plagued me my whole life. They never quite leave - I've just gotten so that I recognize and fall to my knees much faster. They have become shadows of failing, when they used to be companions. It is that constant life in Christ which makes Him a constant presence in you.
Remember, your job isn't to defeat your sin, that's His job and He defeated it at the cross. Your job is to "trust;" trust that He is your Savior which saved you from the depths of Hell; trust that He loves you enough to have sent His only Son to die for you; and trust Him enough to know you are nothing apart from Him.
One day, when He is your everything the sin will grow "strangely dim, in the light of His glorious face." Look to Him and stop looking at your sin.
I wish you all would really rest on this principle. It's always about Him, not you. Your life will go a lot smoother in the long run the sooner that starts to grow and fester in your thought process.
He will never leave you nor forsake you. He can be trusted to be good on His word - always. His promise of salvation will keep you. Get to know Him and concern yourself with Him and who He is. Then your sin will take the back seat - not in a day, or a month, maybe not even for years, but stay and fight the good fight - it's worth it.
Read about David and you will see no matter how much he was a man after God's own heart, he still struggled with lust for women until his last days. However, that did not consume Him - God consumed Him. And, when God left the forefront of his mind, God made sure to pull Him back in - He sustains us.
Remember, we are seen by God by our advocate, Jesus Christ. We are not seen by God according to our sin. Our sin only seperates us believers from a more worthwhile and fulfilling walk in the Lord. Our sin only stifles us, it does nothing to affect our relationship with God. Christ won our salvation at the cross, and during this Easter time has conquered sin in His resurrection. Sin only affects our witness and growth to become mature in the Lord. Sin is bound to law, but Christ is bound to grace. Do you get it? Grow in His grace and knowledge.
Get to know the Savior - through His Word and in prayer, and get to grow in His grace - Christ; Christ; It is all about Jesus Christ our Lord. It has and always will be about Him. ^_____^
You might do well to read the book of I John. And not just a few verses, I mean the WHOLE book. It's easy to do in one sitting. ~_^
