Finnaly saw all of robotech

I finnaly seen all three parts and yes I now know that it is three diffrent series put together to make a longer show yet to tell the truth even though some dont think its good I have to say thay did a farly good job in combinding the shows three shows by three diffrent peoples with little in common and harmony gold combined them and made a working show that actually made alittle since throughout the whole thing. It crazy I dont know how they did it but they did. The only thing Im sad about is that the robotech II sentinles couldnt of been finished and made better it would of been a great idea to follow the voyage of the SDF 3. But woe is me they didnt finish it hopfully the new robotech series is going to be good and maybe even help clarify the series so that us who want more can finnaly get it.

Before the DVD's came our I only knew of two arc for the show, Once I saw the whole thing I wanted to more... Can't wait for the new seires.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I loved both Robotech and the original Macross. I haven't seen the original series for the other two arcs, yet.

Robotech was a big part of what turned me on to anime and I think they did a great job of telling a story and blending the three series together.

Did they have to chop up three stories to make it in the US? Probably not. Heavy editting would have been required to air it on US TV anyway, but they could have left the stories intact, I think. However, I still think they did a good job on the series and I can't wait for the new OAV coming out.

I just purchased the book versions of the original Robotech and I'm reeeeeally liking them. Slightly corny in places, (Menmei, anyone?) but worth the look.

Yes I have the macross saga on paper back and they help clarify some things wich is nice. I also have the game wich makes a little since too. Yet I waas reading a sight that said that at the time robotech came out that a series that was show weakly had to have a minimum amout of episodes that was more than one series could do so they combined three but hay its over with now they allready did it I got to love whats now not what was.

and can any one explane the major defrences that made the original macross and robotech trully diffrent.

There actually aren't many differences. It is incredibly faithful to the original except in the area of what protoculture is, and there are no Robotech Masters. They took out a few scenes, but not much.

MACROSS was initially brought to the United States for a direct-to-video release in the fall of 1984. The first videotape (featuring a direct translation of the first three episodes) was produced before the decision was made to market the show for television. Back in 1985, when Robotech was first broadcast, there was a minimum 65-episode requirement for daily strip syndication. To fill in the necessary episode requirement, SOUTHERN CROSS (23 episodes) and MOSPEADA (25 episodes), were combined with Macross to make up the 85-episodes of Robotech. An additional episode, #37 – "Dana’s Story" was created specifically for the Robotech series as a bridge between The Macross Saga and Robotech Masters chapters. Using footage culled from several Macross and Southern Cross episodes, "Dana’s Story" introduced Dana Sterling as the daughter of Max and Miriya Sterling. The rest is history.
