God, I know what your will is, why don’t you agree?

Talk about anything in here.

God, I know what your will is, why don’t you agree?

Postby holysoldier5000 » Sat Mar 19, 2005 7:49 am

Hey CAA!

I know it has been a while since I last posted, but my absence was for a good reason. Let me explain:

If my life was a book, and the last several months was a chapter, then the title of the chapter would be: God, I know what your will is, why don’t you agree?

A know a lot of people struggle with what to do with their lives. Particularly when it comes to serving God. It is always a debate over service to God, service to self, service to family, service to the world…and so on. Well I too was at that point. My struggle was whether I should get a good paying secure job (that I don’t love,) or do what I do love (writing sci-fi stories.) Being a writer is not is secure job, particularly when tonight’s dinner rests on whether or not the audience likes the book. It’s a gamble, and I was unsure if I wanted to make it. “Throw my life into becoming an author, am I crazy?â€

Nice title. I'm glad you found your place, but God might have plans for you in the writing field yet.

I guess I didn’t make that part clear. The wonderful blessing of working with the teens actually is perfect for my writing. See, I am writing apologetics and fiction for teens, and what better way could God give me insight into the teenage mind then give me the position where I work with them all the time. Now I can work with and experience, what I am writing for. These teens are my test subjects. I learn what they love then incorporate it into my writing. And I use my ideas for writing as lessons for the teens. So I am getting to be a writer and a youth leader. So I am doubly doing what I love, teaching and writing.

That is true, but everyone has the power to do awesome things for God.

Sugoi holysoldier. I'm really glad God opened it up to you. And it's encouraging to me as well. Arigatou. ^^ I think that's a lesson we can all learn from. We need to listen for what God wants rather than what we want, because He certainly knows best. I'mn still really learning to clearly hear the Lord's voice, as well as His plan for my life, but I am understanding more and more, and fully trust that He will make everything clear in due time.

Volt and I have told our stories. But I would like to hear more stories. Do any of you reading this post have a story you would like to share? A story of how God has worked in your life? A story of how God maybe using you? A story of listening or not listening to God? A story of the uncertainty of God’s calling? Or maybe right now you are just wondering if God is calling you somewhere to do something? I would love to hear your stories! I think that we can all benefit from the stories that other Christians have to tell. As the body of Christ we need to support each other and one of the ways of doing so is getting off your cheat questions of comments on the calling of God. So post your stories or question!

If your life was a book would you title one of the chapters like my title? Or would you title them differently? What would your titles be? :thumb:

As for me there have been a few things leading me to becoming a youth group leader. Of course I am only 13...but I think you can be called when your yong maybe? Maybe God starts leading even then? any way...I went to a youth camp and they were preching about the great jorny of life. and what can you do for God.
At the end we were soppose tocome up with somthing one of your friends could do for God. when it was my turn every one thought I would make a great youth leader...I had never really thought of it before. But the more I went to youth group and watched my youth leader work the more I want to.
Before all of this started I was feeling weirdly empty...like something was missing. this dream has sort of feeled that gap.
What do you guys think?

as for a chapter in my life 1st would be "wanting more." then "a dream." and as for the next I don't know it still isn't writen yet.

God will lead us all. Listen, pray, and seek His wisdom. He will not hold back the answer. Go when you are called, but make sure it is a real calling and not a facination with what you think you want. I had to learn that myself when I thought I was being called to be a minister. I learned that it was what I had led myslef to belive was God's calling, but it honestly wasn't. I was only lying to myself because I thought I wanted it to be. In reality God's plan was what I really wanted to do. I love it, and I have found a place where I am at peace, and I am happy. Being a youth leader! And that is what I am...for now.

Go when you are called, but make sure it is God who is calling!

Here is a story:

Take for example my Biology Professor at Collage. Devote Christian man. He spent most of his life preparing for the ministry. He is a native African from Ghana, knows several African languages, as well as Greek, Hebrew, French, and English. Brilliant man. And he was going to be a minister. But he loved biology. He loved the cells, organs, tissues, and all the rest. He was drawn toward biology, and he had a friend in law school who pushed him to become a Forensic Pathologist. But that wasn’t his place either. After a brake in at the labs, and undergoing a mugging for lab drugs, my professor left the field of Forensic Pathology, and become a pediatrician. But he hadn’t found his place yet. Finally he became a professor and a pediatric consultant. Now he teaches students at collages human biology, not just any human biology, but a human biology that could have only been created by God. He loves what he does, it is his place, and he still preaches the truth of God, just to a different congregation.

We all can do the same no matter what we do. You don’t have to go into ministry to do God’s will. Just do what God tells you to do!

Knowing the difference between God's plans and my plans can be very difficult sometimes. I am definitely at a crossroads in this chapter of my life. I thought I knew God's plan for my life since I was like, 10. I was going to be a dancer/choreographer. But when I went to college I suddenly realized that might not be God's plan for me after all. I came home and got a job working with kids with mental disabilities, and now I have discovered that I really love it. Now, I feel like I am debating with God over where I should go with my life. I have two great loves, and I don't know what to do woth them.
On the up side, I never would have discovered my love for special ed if I hadn't stopped dancing. I have also learned from this that I am more versitile than I used to think. God works in strange ways sometimes, but I know he will keep guiding me.

You never know…You maybe able to one day use both! God could have given you the gift of dance for a reason. One day you maybe able to utilize it and use it to His glory. Maybe you will be able to combine your two passions? Maybe you are meant to do one now and the other later? Who knows? Only God! That is why we should always let him lead. But as for the notion of having to give up one passion for the other, that maybe the case or it might not be. I have a saying:

“Never say never because you never know if never may ever be possible.â€
