Did you know that St. Patricks Day is kind of a holiday that celebrates Christianity? Ireland was mostly pagan until St. Patrick came and taught them Christianity. (It's actually a really long story.) Then England came and invaded them and treated them badly. Also, their religion was repressed. They wore green and shamrocks just like the persecuted Christians used the fish symbol to show that they were Christians. Then England actually made it a law that no one was allowed to wear green.
