Good question! Here's a quick list:
1. Fansubs and their legality (been mentioned a lot already)
2. The legitimacy of animeniacs (again, mentioned enough)
3. Most theological points of debate...now this needs explaining. Yes, this is a Christian site, so of course we welcome questions about Christianity and the like or questions about Christian growth. But things that could cause controversy or strife between members of different denominations (i.e. "All Catholics should burn in hell!") are to be avoided. This one's kinda hard to explain...if you have a question, just post it or ask an admin first, and if we deem it not-so-good, we'll just tell you. No harm done. This is why we have a link to TheologyWeb.com
4. anything supporting/legitimizing homosexuality
5. political debates
That's all I can think of off the top of my head at the moment. If you ever have any question about if it's legit or not, I'll be more than happy to answer it for you.

What about signatures and profiles? I know that I personally link to my fanfictions in my sig (some of which do have K/L shounen ai, and among my future projects there's stuff that would probably offend a lot of people), and I link to my blog and site in my profile.

Can you clarify the rules on profile and sig links?

Sure. Ok, links in sigs and profiles are kind of funny. On one hand, they are expressions of you guys as members, so I don't really want to censor them too much. Kinda like your first amendment right, all you Americans. But, on the other hand, this is a G rated site. No exceptions.
So here's the deal. As long as it's not flagrantly offensive, you can keep it up. Fanfics and blogs ok. If we find it is rather inappropriate, we'll just ask you to take it down. I know there will be sites that will walk the line, but we're going to try to deal with this as we have always done in the past: one on one as much as possible.

I'm hoping my links are okay. I have some stories on my websites that are a little hairy... by that, I mean... I like writing some creepy stuff that I know is not for everbody. I am comfortable with what I write as a Christian, but I know many other Christians would not be comfortable with reading all of my works.

(For example, on my fansite, I do have a horror fanfic that I rated NC-17 *just to be safe* because of a lot of very frightening themes. If it were a movie, it would probably only be rated R, though. It's a horror story, not a porn thing, but it's pretty intense - It was based loosely on a nightmare I had). Buuuuuutttttt.... on that site, and on the other stories at my sites, I have them as links with summaries to be read before clicking the links. People going to my sites do not have to click the links if they do not want to. Overall, the artwork and layouts on my sites should not be offensive to anyone here - my artwork is very clean and I don't tend to put my creepier works as layouts.

Even on my webcomic... on the link in my sig, I put a warning. My webcomic has a disclaimer at the top of the main site of being PG-13. Please don't click the link if you cannot handle a PG-13 level of violence/harsh and intellectual themes.

So... I'm hoping my links are okay. I'm not linking any porno pictures or anything like that - and all of my stories have a summaries and ratings (basically a "read at own risk" policy if you are overly squeamish about certain things).

One more thing... never mention that Ashley had two #3's in her first post. (Huh? Did I say something? You must be imagining things... ^_~ )

um...question... y are the 'do not discuss' titles do not discuss? i would like to know the basics- like 'for sexuality' of 'for religious content.' that would be fantastic thanx.

also, it seems Vampire Knight could become a hot debate topic later... just fyi

Correct, my esteemed Tsukuyomi! The forbidden topics have been deemed so less because of their specific content and more because the forum membership has proven themselves, over time, to be incapable of discussing them in a civil manner. Note especially One Piece--a show with little if any objectionable content that was nonetheless relegated to the DND because it somehow never failed to ignite a flame war.

That really is it. The DND is not an expression of our bizarre political leanings or seriously arbitrary taste. It really is all about keeping the peace.

As for Vampire Knight, it is not on our list of do-not-discuss titles, and it does have some fans around here. The last discussion of it concluded about a year ago, so feel free to start a new one.

Speaking of which, that is our standard practice regarding old threads; rather than "gravedigging" an ancient discussion, start a new thread if the topic is not in recent memory.
