Animerica

Has anyone else read this magazine before? I had it last month, just picked it up at the bookstore. Was so excited. But then I found the most disgusting junk in there. Yaoi, all other kinds of perversion just about. As a Christian, I advise everyone to stay away from this, before it sucks you in.

"Why don't we love his truth as much as we seem to love his love?"- Cross Movement, in their song "Check us Out"

It just covers what is popular in an annoyingly cheerleader style fashion. Unfortunately, I think that what they cover tends to be popular with the majority of anime/manga fans. I mean this year, I have seen more yaoi manga titles on the shelves than in the past 5 years combined...

Hm. Animerica seemed a lot nicer when I used to read it, oh...three, four years ago? Oh well, I don't really read anime magazines too much anymore, aside from the occasional glance at Newtype. ^^; My tastes have drifted too far away from the mainstream to find anything interesting in Animerca and the like anymore.

Hmm... I dont remember seeing much Yaoi in Animerica before... but I havent read the magazine in years... If it is following popular trends, I fear they will talk about yaoi a lot since there seems to be so many rabid yaoi fangirls out there O_o

hmm yeah...I dont think you should slam a magazine because they have that kind of thing in there. sure it's stupid, but we're talking about secular anime magazines here...why do we expect different? *shrug* I just ignore such things.

 Ah, so the paddles weren't an AX only phenomenon. It was kinda funny watching people run for their lives so fast, you've gotta admit.

Then that must of been crazy Mr. Smarty Pants, since I'm almost done with Rebel Strike already, it's been only 2 days that I played it, a total of 6 hours. ROTJ, Battle Of Endor, then that must have been crazy, bet you felt like a Y-Wing or an A-Wing.

Me, it's really hard to ignore things that hurt Jesus. You know, how God hates sin. I was just "informing the Christian public", that's all. I just don't want any of my brethren going in and ruining their minds with this crap... :hits_self
See, i already hit myself, so don't go and flame me, kay?

Not a flame. Opinion. :P

And yeah...I still hold with the opinion that we're in a sinful world and the non-Christians aren't going to care whether there's yaoi or junk. Not to say you should support things like that...merely that sometimes it's unavoidable and it's good to weigh pros and cons before knocking an entire magazine.

Especially when you can knock it because it's so shallow ;)
Whatever is "IN", you can bet Animerica will cover it like it's the greatest thing to ever come from Japan-- and then drop it for the next big thing. Right now, it's Yaoi. Next time it could be anime about underwater basket weaving...

Perrsonally, I think Animerica is the worst of the magazine options

To me it seems pointless. I'm letting my subscription to EGM run out. Why do I need to read about all of the new games & reviews every month, when I can get them daily for free on gamespot?

I say, just stick to the internet. Anime News Network is a good sourcething.

Pretty much. the magazines served a point earlier when internet wasn't as widespread.

Personally, I miss Manga Max from the UK. Probably the best out there, but long defunct...

Shounen-ai: literally boy love. Self explanitory.
Yaoi: explicit shounen-ai involving...yeah.

I think it was Animerica where I read the article about the new Cowboy Bebop REMIX edition DVDs. It seemed a little...unreliable, to me, for some reason. Didn't bother with it long enough to read the rest. I was busy hyperventalating over the mention of "voice actor commentary". As in the American voice actors. As in Steve Blum. SQUEE. *dies of fangirlish joy*
Think happy thoughts.
