New York

Postby Shao Feng-Li » Tue Mar 08, 2005 11:28 am

As some of you may know we're moving to ALbany, New York and attend the Covenated Presbitry church. We left on Thursday 100 pm PAcific time and arrived 7 am eatern time in WAshington DC. AT 8:20 we took a plane to New York and stayed at the Birgers, whem we met over the net. On SUnday we had a church service and my Bothers and sisater were baptized. All afternoon we had a fellowship dinner.
On Tuesday my dad got a job at Saratoga Springs, a privetly owned company. Soon he'll be second in command as plant manager. We're going home tomarrow.
As for me, I love it here. I really do. God opened my eyes and showed that this is a better place. I even found a really good Tae Kwon Do dojang, but it's like $100 for one person. What kind of dojang makes you pay for a test?:eh: So, I'm still looking for an AJJF dojo. I know I will miss my dojo terribly, but God somehow let me know that it will be all right. I really can't wait to move here now. Most of our family doesn't like us or they believe we're joining a cult. :eh: PRove to me it's a cult. I dare you. My grandma attends a chruch where the paster says "Paul got it wrong" and she says we're joining a cult. So I really realy want to move here.

Thanks, Mave- chan.

I am very happy to hear how things are going for you and how God has opened your eyes to His presence in your life - even in New York.

Shao, is it the Covenant Presbyterian Church? It sounds like a good church and the name is familiar. Anyway, I'm guessing your grandmother is a member of a certain denomination that my husband's parents are involved with. They don't believe the Bible could possibly be inerrant and my father-in-law has made the exact same comment about Paul. :eyeroll: It's funny how so many denominations forsake the Word of God to be that -- the Word of God. As if God could not speak to us? As if God would possibly change through translation? Hehe, God is in control and didn't lose control at the hands of man.

Anyway, let us know more about your life in New York. ^_____^

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

It's the 1st Baptist Church. I don't think they're all like that, but this one's pretty messed up.

Covenant Presbyterian Church

I think so. It fallows the West Minster Confession by the letter I think which is fully backed by scripture. The people there are so normal and humble. One would feel completely comfortable in their presents.

No, Baptists church are usually fantastic, Biblically-based churches. I was saved in a First Southern Baptist church. I'm just not sure why your grandmother would think a church which follows the Westminster Confession of faith is cultic. :eyeroll: My goodness, most of the great Bible believing Christians and theologians pre-1700 would have agreed with it.

I've had great friends who attended Westminster Theological Seminary in California and I've read through this and know it's just splitting hairs for some folks.

Anyway, this really isn't the thread to get started on historical differences of opinion between different theologians of history, so if you want to speak further we can chat pm. :)

If we all agree on Sola Scriptura and Sola Fide then all should work out. ;)
