Okay, I'm done being an idiot for today.

Being pretty would be bad. That's why I hate bishounen. Guys used to be guys. Not sissy pretty boys... Enough ranting.

Outward things aren't good. You have to love someone for who they are. I, however, am not the most likeable person. ;)

I'm not bitter or anything, just introverted and a natural loner.

Don't worry about people making comments at you or whatever. Once you learn to stop worrying over stupid things, life gets more fun.

I quit angst, anger, and hate years ago. I'm much more happy, and I get over being mad pretty quickly.

Just go with the flow. Stay cool.

but.. attractive people are treated better, loved and cared a lot more, and are more likely to succed in life.

As much as I don't like saying this, your look is what determains how people treat you. Attractive people are treated better. And poeple who are ordianary or normal... we have work twice as hard.

If have the looks, all the doors are open for you.

Ah there is a saying the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. As in social science in the department of Sociology that the ideal of beauty or been pretty is an social construction of idea that through the construction it shape what is beauty in our society but as in a Christian world view and our social construction that we are created in the image of our God our Heavenly Father so been "Pretty" isn't bad as well as been "ugly" is not bad either. All are same in the eyes of our God which is much more important then how other think of us.

unfortunatly people dont think like God.

Studies show that even new borns preffer to be held by beautiful women rather than "ugly" woman, and that school-children tend to listen and learn a LOT more if the teacher is an attractive person.

Yeah, I don't think I really want to comment on this one much. Suffice it to say that we all have our problems, regardless of where we might fall on the scale of attractiveness. That said, beauty is fleeting, but ignorance lasts a lot longer.

Anyway, God made you all special, put you where you are now for a very good reason (even if you can't see that yet), and also, made you who you are, down your unique iris and fingerprint patterns. God loves us, has put a great deal of care into us, and has, most importantly, granted us salvation through Christ, although none deserve it. In light of that, we should let our knowledge of the love of God guide us in how we deal with our own looks, and the looks of others.

Don't put yourself down, and don't put others down. By the same token, don't elevate beauty to a level to which it doesn't belong. Sorry, I'm guilty of both, but I've repented and by the grace of God I'm doing this less and less. Anyway, I remember I wasn't going to comment on this much, so I guess that's all I'll say for now.

As for woe, woe unto the unsaved.
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.
Our lives are but a vapor, let us not let waste our time and breath on vanities, but let us spend ourselves for the Kingdom, seeking a better resurrection.

At least the second part of what he said. (I don't know what makes a guy pretty, so...)

But seriously, YHWH is not an ugly god. Rather, He is the very essence and definition of beauty. I should hardly think that one would despise beauty itself, but rather, perhaps, that beauty becomes a scapegoat for the reactions it brings.

The grass is always greener, I suppose.

Speaking as a fat man who has endured years of quite jabs and muffled snickers because of my size, I think having the body of a model would be a nice change of pace. But that’s because I don’t have one. I think it is hard to be anything – ugly, pretty, popular, unpopular. Everyone has things about themselves they don’t like and I don’t think I’d actually trade if the chance was given to me. I’ve long sense gotten used to the barbs that are thrown at a fat man’s back and they really don’t bother me very much. Not being bothered by such things comes with wisdom, which generally comes with age.

A word of advice, perhaps? Lewd behavior certainly should never be tolerated and no one should be forced to deal with it, but learning how to deal with it is an important part of living in the world. But, while rude, I would not put staring into this category. I know I have gazed many a time a little too long at a girl who has caught my eye, but I hope any who have noticed do not take offense, for certainly none was intended. Such attraction is mostly chemical and hard to ignore. Place the focus of your ire on those who move beyond that lingering look and into stares that last even after he knows you’ve noticed or worse yet, cat calls or other unwanted attention.

Yeah! Marcy goes wild! Eherm, okay, back on track.

I may be a guy but I know how much it stinks to be liked just for your looks. I've had the misfortune to date several women only to find that they had a "master plan" something along the lines of "Oh, he's such a nice boy. I'll cure him of his anime addiction and/or pesky Christian faith and he'll be the perfect boyfriend!" Relationshipwise, I can hardly think of anything more offensive. That's not liking a person. It's liking their shell.

Finally, someone speaks a little sense. *applauds* I've been both, in different periods of my life. When I was younger, in school, I was chubby, disproportioned, had glasses, braces and an afro. People were hateful and teased me unrelentlessly. I was kicked and pushed on the school bus because they thought I was ugly.

I bloomed in college, and frankly, people are a lot nicer when you're at least normal.

Regardless of if you're gorgeous or not so attractive (although you'll be beautiful to others), we are all persecuted.

Unwanted attentions is annoying, I agree. But, while you're complaining...think of all the people who never even get a second glance. In fact, they never get a first glance. It could alwasy be better, it could always be worse.

Big sweatshirts and baggy pants.

Amen, sister. o_O

I do (try to) disturbingly stare back.

Some guy tried to touch my butt at a water fountain and he got The Death Glare. Now, you all know Kenshin's death glare, right? Imagine it in real life. Imagine someone doing that to you. Scaaaary!!!

Seriously though, I don't care what someone looks like. It's stupid. Anyway, I think that "pretty people" have the tendency to be conceited. Icky. There's this guy on American Idol named Constantine who is supposedly gorgeous but to me he's a total gross-out because he thinks he's all hot and sexy. *gags*

Supposedly, I'm "pretty" according to people, but it's just not something I care or think about.

I want to notice some guy is staring, look away, and then look back and cross my eyes and stick my tongue out. Oh, that would be so fun!!

Ahaaa! Do it do it! I've done it. I'm a champion eye-crosser. I can make them quiver. Some guy was getting all "ga-ga" and I crossed up my eyes and they started twitching and acting funny (lol, lol, LOL) and he went "Eeeewww! That's freaky! Stop it!" It's fun...

Hmm....

Let me caution you girls on something.

Don't act weird too often. If a guy *notices* that you're attractive. Not a bad thing. He may be an honorable man of God and because he notices you, he tries to strike up a conversation with you to get to know you better. Not because he has bad intentions. You don't want to scare those guys off.

Also, doing weird things like that may not be the wisest course of action when dealing with the *starers/stalkers*. You would look like a fool and it might only hurt you, and not him.

Just a thought.

Just so you girls know, sometimes guys decide whether or not to open a conversation with a girl based on his personal perception of her attractiveness. Girls I'm sure strike up convos for their own reasons that can be different from men. I say this to caution you not to scare away a Godly guy who could be a great Christian brother to you in friendship. Or perhaps your future mate (though I have faith that God personally intervenes when the situation is THAT serious).

And it doesn't matter whether or not YOU think you're attractive. I'm a good example, I guess. Usually, the girls I'm MOST attracted to are what society considers "plain janes." Not all guys like the Hollywood heroines. I think Britney Spears is attractive, but there are "plain janes" that I thought were far more attractive. Each guy I think has a preset perception of what he thinks if pretty or not. So there are different standards for each guy.

(I've removed and edited the part I was incorrect on).

Just a thought...
big swetatshirts and baggy pants.
Unfortunatley I tried this and it doesnt work. All my clothes are extremly baggy and I dont ware anything that shows stomach or anything else.... and I still get obnoxious comments...

I once had a guy from school who made a 'inapropriate' comment to me once, I kicked him in the ankle and elbowed him in the stomach... hard.

But instead of leaving me alone the next day he tried to kiss me.... ( I didnt even say anything to him and he walked up an tried to kiss me!!) that was very disturbing... so I just kicked him in the ankle and ran off in another direction... He still bothers me whenever I see him, but thank God he went off to college this year.

Other than that Ive had guys make cat-calls and such at me, but I just make a mean face at them, turn around, and walk away. Ive had it happen a lot so Im used to it by now, but its still really annoying.

Now I just avoid all guys altogether. I dont talk to them unless I have a good reason, because it seems like everytime I just try to be friends with a guy they end up trying to end up as a 'couple' (even the boys form church). I know its not very nice, but Im kinda sick of having to put up with the way they have treated me. Its not like I 'flirt' with the guys or anything.... all I ever wnted to do is be friends...

Oh.. and no offense to the guys here, you all sound nice and all.. I just havent had any good experiences with guys.

Anyways thats my view on the subject!!!

I'm sorry you have yet to meet any REAL men at your church (well, 16-18 yr old men) who are Christians who see girls as people.

This is a hard concept that God is STILL teaching me, fortunately I'm learning by talking to the girls here, and trying to meet other girls at church. Sorry about this girls, that we guys have made this error in our thoughts regarding you. By God's grace, we're changing (cause God is changing us, not anything we did, except humble ourselves and let God do His work...though He had to humble us so really....:: rambles off:: )

Anywho Kewl Girl, I have prayed for you, and I urge you to pray for the guys at church, and guys in general that you have met, and ask God to personally intervene and give you some great Christian guys you can be just friends with. We need to have friends from both sides of the gender spectrum, especially Christian ones. Why? Well, for one thing, it helps us get a better picture of Who God is, since when He made mankind, He split the different sides of Himself and put one side into man, and the other woman. We need to see and understand the different perspectives both sides have on life and the Lord. It's interesting getting to know it.

God knows all our needs, and if you ask, He will hear from Heaven and answer. Just know there are some things God WON'T do unless we ask. Why? Cause it shows we are dependent on Him as our Heavenly Father.

well, I've never received cat calls before.....my self esteem has always been low so I never expected anyone to do that sort of thing. like through grades 1-5 I was teased by both school kids and church kids....-_- never made me feel to wanted. I never really felt that pretty or beautiful. My parent's would say I was, but hey....I thought that's what parent's were supposed to do. I guess I just wanted someone else to something along those lines, that wasn't family....

well...now that I have a better realationship with God and I have a wonderful wonderful boyfriend, I don't worry about that sort of thing anymore *or at least I try not to*. I mean, they both like me for me. ^_^

The Doctor wrote:And it doesn't matter whether or not YOU think you're attractive.

Agreed. There are many women that I find to be very attractive, that most guys look at me and say, "Are you NUTS?" Further, I have been accused of being gay simply because I don't find women like, say, Pamela Anderson to be the least bit attractive, though most men would disagree with me.

Different people have different standards of beauty, and simply because you don't find yourself to be attractive doesn't mean that some people won't think you are. I know this from experience. ^^]sometimes guys decide whether or not to open a conversation with a girl based on his personal perception of her attractiveness.
VERY true. There is always some level of physical attraction. Regardless of whether or not you are considered pretty by the world's standards, the man meant for you will find you to be beautiful in his eyes. Thus, physical attraction plays a very important role. You're not going to marry a woman that's utterly repulsive to you, no matter how beautiful she is on the inside. Argue with me if you will, but I don't think I'm wrong.

To Kewl Girl 16...

It is very difficult, in fact, I would say near impossible for a guy to be friends with a girl and NOT, at some point, think about having some sort of relationship with her. You've gotta keep that in mind, plus hormones and all...it's a weird time of growing up. Doesn't make what he did right, don't get the idea that I'm sticking up for that kid.

Besides, you're 16, yo. You don't need to worry too much about dating or guys yet. I'm not bashing dating, I think dating is important and is a very good thing...but not at that age. Hormones are tricky, tricky critters, and can cloud your judgement, all right? I cannot say for sure, but I believe it is VERY doubtful that you will find your soulmate at 16 years old, you know? When you're older, when your thinking is more clear and you are able to make better judgements without biology getting in the way, I think then you will be able to make a more informed decision about the guys you get to know.

The Doctor wrote:Each and every guy has a built in, specially designed personal perception of what he considers beauty, designed by God for when he notices his future wife.

Uh, though I can't go into too much detail here about why, I will simply say that I disagree and leave it at that. ^^;;
