Encouragement: Do good anyway

Postby Mave » Wed Feb 16, 2005 9:00 am

Hi: This greatly encouraged me today and got me out from my streak of crankiness and disappointment in others. May it bless you too

*******************************************

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true friends;
Succeed anyway.

If you are frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway,

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world your best anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

-Mother Teresa

That's very cool, thanks for posting that, it's always good to be to be reminded of that sort of thing. ^^

I really like how the quote ends.

Mave, thank you for posting that. =) It is a good reminder, and one that I needed.

Thank you.

Man encouraging people can be so hard at times. But people were created in God's image so putting your brothers and sisters down is almost like you're insulting God. He wants us to see what people in the world can be for him. Not what they are in the flesh. He also commands us to build up our brothers and sisters. Yup that quote hits it on the head though.

(Hey though this isn't the prayer thread could you guys pray that I'll be more loving and less cynicle towards people? That is a big struggle for me.)

I am convinced that many men who preach the gospel and love the Lord are really misunderstood. People make a “profession,â€

Thanks. I've been rather discouraged by people lately so it fits.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Good advise. We shouldn't allow negativity from those around us to affect our moods. Thanks, Mave.

Excelent words from a dedicated woman.

Thanks for sharing Mave.

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Yep, I heard that one a while ago, but it was worth hearing again. Thanks for posting it, and that part about it being 'between you and God,' reminds me of a verse:

Verses actually. Romans 14:1-4
1 Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. 2 One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables.
3 The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him.
4 Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
Our lives are but a vapor, let us not let waste our time and breath on vanities, but let us spend ourselves for the Kingdom, seeking a better resurrection.

very nice. that actually helped me out because I was a tad down in the dumps earlier today. Gal. 6. 10-11 is very good (i think it's 10-11) it's somewhere around there that it talks about not getting tired of doing good and to encourage other believers.
