Happy Single Awareness Day!

Taking a cue from Robotech.com, here is where the single's unite and talk here at CAA.

Gather together, talk, discuss, and be happy!

Or whine and complain...but why do that when we can have a time of hilarity here?!

Ok, here's my big vice. I was sheltered for most of my life until about 17...when I got my first job. Until then I had no real experience meeting or talking to girls, was very awkward, and got no training or practical talk from my dad about how to approach girls. It wasn't until I was 20 to 21 that I got the advice I need and the approach to have. That being, just pursue friendship. No duh! And see what happends.

Then we fast forward to, well, what if I like a girl? And of course, my friend Nate, brooming over with self confidence and wisdom, told me basically "Be bold. Cowards never prosper. Girls like guys with confidence. If you sit in a corner and be scared, you'll do it all your life. Just go in with all guns blazing."

Last part was a HEAVY ad lib, but yeah, that's Nate's advice in a nutshell.....and he's married now.

Mind you, he left out something that I shall add:
I've done an analysis of my friends around me who are married now...even my parents, and I've come to this conclusion. In ALL of their relationships, NOT ONE OF THEM GOT MARRIED UNTIL THEY GAVE UP! I mean gave up all hope, said this is it. She's never going to like me, I'm never getting married, I'm just going to move on with life. VERY NEXT DAY, God moved stuff in motion and boom, they met their future wife, the girl emailed back and said "I can't live without you!!!!" and now they are married.

Lesson? Release it to God....easier said than done. Even I struggle and still do with this. :hits_self

BTW, let's share embarrassing stories about when we failed to attract someone of the opposite gender that we liked, and how we messed things up. I'll most my own stories too. LOL.

I have a Valentine's Day story. It happened one year ago.

I had a pretty big crush on our class president for two years-freshman year Valentine's Day to junior year. Our student council sells flowers for the big love fest, and then they organize them to give them to the classes to be handed out to the students. Well, while we were organizing them, I noticed a flower that had a secret admirer card for my crush with my initials on it. At that moment, I could have thrown away the flower, but no, I decided it was time for him to know. I then gave crap to my best friend, for I thought that he did it, but still, it was moment of truth time.

His response: The most eligible bachelor of our school asked out another girl that very night, and they've now passed their one year anniversary.

So much for me being bold. :eyeroll:

And, one week ago, I found out that my best friend did not send that flower, but it was someone else, so I've been blaming the wrong guy for the past year.

Single life is great.
I am unique, just like everyone else.

Whoops! Wrong card. ::blush::

::Hands you card that reads "You're not alone, nor will you ever be..."

There, that's better!

i saw the title of this thread and just had to stop by, on the radio today i heard one of the dj's talking about how today (or yesterday depending on how you look at it) is single awareness day, and how she's single, and she's aware of it. so it was the title that drew me in, but it was the first post that kept me here, i come from what some would call a "blended family" my mother never married until she met my stepdad and my stepdad had already been married twice previously. and like all the other examples of marriage that were observed nothing happened until they said "i don't care if i get married, my life is about God and He's all that matters" then God introduced my mom to my stepdad and now they've been married for almost 6 years now and they also have a 6 month old baby to celebrate...

so i say

 ROCK ON GOD!!! KING OF THE MATCHMAKERS!!!!!!

oh, and happy valentines (or single awareness) day to one and to all

I think if your going to have a successful marriage you need to build it with the foundation of God. Pre-marriage courses would help too. Basically I would want to marry a girl that is a best friend, someone I know really well (both the good and the bad points of either of us). Rushing into marriage and love would just bring disaster and a marriage that doesn't satisfy or last. I guess what I'm trying to saying is us singles have to give it to God, he will provide in his timing. That's all well and good, but sometimes I get so darn lonely.

I've never been a particularly angsty single but I've got some good Valentine's Day horror stories. One year, I got chocolates when I was expecting nothing. However, one of them was from a girl I disliked immensely and the other was from a friend's fiance. A few years before that, I broke up on Valentine's Day!

The last two years have been okay, though. This year nothing happened, and last year all of my friends surprised me with notes and stuffed cows so I would feel better about being single.

usually valentines days are very depressing for me, though i forgot it was valentines day for most of it this year, but today i met a girl i used to work with that i liked, and i was dumb enough to not ask her out while i had the chance, and she ended up going out with another guy...

And now i'm depressed about it all, meh

it was good to talk to her again though, but every time i think about her i realise how much of an idiot i was, baka.

eep, sorry for the rant people, just ignore me

I think one thoroughly depressing thread is enough and since the other one is larger ...
