Cafe Press?

Postby Warrior 4 Jesus » Sun Feb 06, 2005 3:21 am

What is this Cafe Press shop thing and how does it work? I've seen some people market thier characters onto t-shirts and coasters and stuff and I was wondering how reliable and safe this surface is, as I am thinking of using it, possibly.

Any help/tips would be great!
Thanks!

Cafepress is a third party type store--basically, anyone can set up an account with them and submit their artwork/designs to the site's server. People can then order materials from cafepress--cafepress buys a bunch of blank/stock items, then transfers (via silkscreening and other stuff like that) the artwork to the material. As a store owner, you can set the price but you have a base minimium to cover Cafepress' service charges and materials.

CAA actually has a cafepress store, and for the record we make absolutely NO profit on anything we sell--those are the base prices Cafepress makes us sell at. Right now it's mostly bags, shirts, etc., but I do think at one point in time we had hoped to sell manga and bible study supplies through them too.

I've also used Cafepress for personal projects (aside from CAA), and I never had a problem with them. Their ordering system seemed safe and secure to me.

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

I'm going to throw in my support for CafePress, too. Keely used it for publishing the first three issues of Mangazine, and the ordering system is quite good -- they actually ship to Canada! ^_^ ( *grumbles* Unlike a certain CD publishing company... *cough Mixonic cough* >< )

I think Australia can use it too. It seems pretty cool that you can put your own things onto t-shirts and stuff ^^
