Naruto...Good/Bad versions

Postby olorc » Sat Feb 05, 2005 4:24 pm

I hope it's not considered spamming to post 2 similar threads that are about 2 different anime titles...bc that's what I'm essentially doing.

So I was on ebay hoping to get as much Naruto as I could today and I found the complete series for about $40-$70. There were tons of different covers and titles of these things. Aren't they all supposed to be the same if they are for the same series? I am most confused. Kinda like this: :eh:
:?: Who can help out poor ollie?
Does anyone out there own parto or all of the thus far released Naruto series? If so, are you happy with what you have could you please describe it. (By this I mean how many discs it is, what the cover looks like, if the subs/dubbs are up to snuff...stuff like that). :)
Thanks a lot this would really help me out. :thumb:

the Naruto anime isn't licensed in the US yet, therefore everything you saw was a bootleg.

porbably not. Not only is it helping the bootleg industry, there's usually no dub version and really crappy subs.

Legal issues aside, you probably should not buy these copies off of Ebay if you are at all concerned about quality. I have seen (but do not own) some bootleg anime, and as Kokoro Daisuke already mentioned, the quality was poor and the subtitles were full of errors. It is entirely possible that the subtitles of fansubbed Naruto episodes are better in quality than the ones on the bootleg DVDs.

That is impossible. The seriesis not over, whatever you saw were fakes. Heck the manga isn't even over! They are on episode 120 in the series, and its continuing. Whatever you saw were fakes. Unless it was an import version. Otherwise youd have to twiddle with your DVD player. But i doubt that they are legit imported episodes

If the DVDs were not R2/Japanese, then you are saw simple bootlegs. Stay away from them!

On a sidenote: The Naruto movie will be subbed in about 2 months :D

Actually, you could have also seen the Chinese release of the DVDs, which feature Chinese and English subtitles. I'm not sure if they are legitimate releases even then, but it is a possibility.

Why would Chinese Naruto release feature English subtitles?
Usually these properties denote a bootleg:

English and Chinese subtitles.
Region-free DVD
Ridicilously cheap
Unusual amount of episodes per disc (6+)

Not much if any Japanese anime I can think of gets a Chinese release and with good reason. Since a huge portion of bootlegs come out of China and Taiwan they wouldn't make anything since the market is so saturated with bootlegs of the anime in the first place. It's shoe in for being a bootleg if it has Chinese subtitles.

well it is licensed for home use only but not for any where els there is normaly the coppyright info on the back andare in mutipol dvd cases such as the Lord of the Rings extended ed boxed sets were in but you should only be paying like 40 for a season at max. Its a compleatly leagol coppy if the info is on the back but its will have to ba an import.

You know, this may be redundant, but you can get nearly all the Naruto Anime and Manga Chapters (to date) free online at... 'Some website where people like Naruto'... *dodges mod death glares*

If you are looking for the real-thing you may be in for quite a wait. Especially since the manga is still only on volume 5-English (@ an average of 4 vol. Per-year).

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.
