I'm leaving CAA perminantly. i've wanted to do this for a long time but I've never gathered the courage to let go.

About 2 years ago I got really bored for an extended period of time. I went through and typed out thousands of those codes to see what symbols got brought up. Thousands. I have no idea what the limit is.
There are alternative number codes to get symbols. They repeat sometimes. I'm not sure if there are more or less than the character map displays or not. For example, the way I get the é is to type alt + 130. I know there's another number sequence that others use.
I have the file on my other computer, but if any of you are interested in what I have, I could find it and e-mail it to you as an attachment. It's a Word file.
Some are commands (like page down) instead of symbols.
Not all symbols/characters will show up in chats, IM programs, or message boards. Not all fonts have all the symbols/characters. Arial doesn't have all that Times New Romans does... I think. Don't hold me to that, but the point is, some fonts display more characters than others.

Yep - it's ASCII. Pressing and holding alt on the keyboard and then typing the ASCII code (on the number pad) produces the ASCII character. For example, try 65. It's a capitol A. The cross's ASCII code is 134. The only thing I'm confused on is the leading 0 - you shouldn't need it, but if you do just 134, you get this: å
