Why are so many people not being able to go on much?

For me at least, the second semester of school was always MUCH harder than the first, especially with all the standardized testing and stuff we were forced to study for. I think considering CAA's majority demographic, that's probably it. They want/need/are being forced to focus more on their schoolwork.

I agree with what Ashley said.

For me, I don't post that much during the school year because my university works me REALLY hard during both semesters. I believe that there was an article a year or so ago about the ten universities that make you work the hardest, and mine was on there...

I think alot of people are facing "internet addictions" that they're trying to overcome. I've noticed that's been a reason listed in several "I'm leaving" threads.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I don't know, but maybe sometimes they really don't feel well, in their life. So because they don't feel well and they know they are in a bad mood, they don't go on.

I think also, for me I know it's exams at school. I shouldn't be on the computer right now... And of course those who are older have even more work and bigger exams. Studying.

I do take some short breaks from CAA although I don't announce them to everyone. Reasons?

1) Too much going on in my personal life (like Ash suggested)
2) Addiction to online activities such as CAA (as Mangafanatic stated) and the attempt to curb that
3) Emotional issues that arise from conflicts or personal problems that happen among members <-- applies the most to me

Eitherways, not being able to go on much isn't a bad thing. I think all christian need to have serious retreats from their daily activities so that they can spend personal time with God. I need breaks all the time because I do experience burnouts and feel completely spiritually or emotionally drained. That's when I know I need to get away from it all and be refreshed by His spirit. When I come back, I'm alive in Spirit and ready to rock and roll. ^_^

EDIT: Speaking of which, lately I've been feeling very impatient and less than graceful online. Before I say something I'll regret, I will be taking a week's break from CAA and only to come back for the prayer section or important announcements. Take care!

So, it's just bums like me who won't go away? ;)

More seriously, those people who step back when they know they need to have a good sense of self control. Now that I'm out of college, it's a lot harder to be disciplined in my life.

Quite a bit of truth has been said here, so I'll take this from a different angle. In the past, there have been two other threads that commented as you have. These people felt as if members of CAA were dropping away rapidly and that the community was vanishing.

But, it seems, this was largely unfounded. Many of these individuals returned, refreshing from their time off. Others replaced the few that had truly left. These forums continue to grow at the same rate, if not higher, than they had before. So while it may seem that many people are leaving, I would contend this is largely a psychological feeling.

Yep I got 18 hours of school and being a senior, to anyone who maybe was one during college...it ain't easy. I got homework, cases studies and lessons just about everyday that is due next class period so I'm bombarded with work. I rarely have any time to play any games that I would normally play.

Well, I'm not coming on as much because I'm drifting away from God, and not doing stuff I should be doing. Like, this is almost the only thing I do! So, I'm not coming on as much.

 Well, personally I broke my arm.. An event that you should all avoid at all costs. Typing with one hand is the extremely time consuming... it doesn’t help the situation either that I have long nails and a short attention span/patience. I'm getting better at it (luok ma' I cin speal nhow!), but it's a real pain in the neck.

Alot of what is said here is true.

If you're like me, you also just get bored after awhile. I actually had to choose to get back in here after a long Christmas break, because frankly, I want to be here and support this place. I think we Christians need to be more proactive and this is one of a few places where Christians actually talk about proactively making content, which is what we should be doing.

Well yeah for the most part I come and go in small spirts. Sometimes I'll check the boards a bunch of times in a day, then others I don't get around to it. As much as I would love to be on the boards in all hours of the night I also must continue to live my life. I can't spend hours and hours, day after day infront of the computer screen. I need to get out and get some air-- life is more then being on the boards all day every day.

Also, I have a huge course load in college this semester and a part-time job I have work to earn money for tuition and car. As much as I would love to be on CAA for hours in all nights of the days... I just can't.

CAA is a great place to chat about common interests and ask someone for help if you need it, or just get advice and stuff... we can use the CAA support to help us in life's journy, but we need to make the forward steps ourselves and we can't do that hovering over a computer 24/7. Just in my opinion.

Well kind of random and perhaps incoherent, but that is why I and perhaps some others take breaks.

DragonSlayer wrote:Sometimes I just cant find anything to respond to.(Any threads), I browse through the fourms just to read as well.
I'm a bit the same way... Although I do read most threads, I don't post unless I feel i have something to add or say. It's kind of hard for me to comment on some threads like "Sponge Bob gay?" It really doesn't interest or pertain to me really.

I can totally understand how some people leave to take time off. Some need to prioritizes things in their life (problems or whatever), some need to do some soul searching to figure things out and some just feel they need to live life to the fullest.

Buy yeah... it's all good :P

I like volts idea... it would minimize the amounts of threads and streamline the process, as well as helping people feel welcome back.
