The loving, caring, and slightly bad-influencing father of 1balloonpopper and khakibluesocks!!!
Also I'm not sure how -_-' but somehow I am the Master and Father of Spectro-King according to his signature ... but hey I'm up for having a minion ... so jump stupid ... I'll have him keeeeel you

FoF = Focus On The Family

I think it should be remembered that both Focus On The Family and the American Family Association are family advocacy groups. Each sees it's ministry as a means to help promote, develop and protect families in accordance to Judeo Christian ethics and morals. Neither would expect everyone to agree with them 100%. They are in fact seeking to bring balance to a great deal of information and material that many with a more liberal worldview would promote. As such their views should not be met with contempt, but with an understanding of the fact that there are threats out there which are seeking to influence the minds of our young people and to be cautious of what they are viewing, reading and listening to. A mature believer will use the information not as an affront to where they themselves stand nor to ridicule another's position, but as a springboard for analyzing the spiritual worth of what is coming into our homes today.

Rin and Stimpy

Oh man, It's Ren and Stimpy, you made it sound like Inuyasha...*dies*

Spongebob is not gay, he's just weird. Neither is Patrick.

In the movie, Patrick and Spongebob were drooling over Sandy.

The Baby Clam episode was funny. Normal people who are not gay do the same thing. Anyway I think it was also a joke about sponges not having actual genders...

well, you guys are entitled to your opinions; I personally think Spongebob is hilarious and one of the better Nicktoons these days. some of you guys talk about it like it's another Beavis and Butthead or something. :eh:

aku brought up a good point about Bugs Bunny. I grew up on those cartoons and I'm not a degenerate. because my parents taught me it was just a show. o_o

holy fishpaste. when did it become a social sin for two people of the opposite sex to hug once in a while? sheesh. are there no platonic relationships anymore?

anyway, my point is that it's just a cartoon, meant to make people laugh, we shouldn't be getting so serious about it, the end.

I think it's at least fair to put some links here for your consideration. The first is from the FotF website and when you click on it, it has links at the bottom that offer a more in-depth response.

Focus responds to Spongebob controversy

These links are from the We Are Family Foundation's Website:

The Tolerance Pledge to which Fotf objects
The "We are Family" Press Release concerning the Cartoon Project (link since removed from website)

Also of note, it seems that Fotf may be right in saying that the We are Family Foundation removed links to objectionable teachers guides on it's website. There is a place in the archives for them, but the link doesn't link to a teachers guide, but rather the Archives Home instead.

ShiroiHikari and a lot of similar comments were said by other people wrote:holy fishpaste. when did it become a social sin for two people of the opposite sex to hug once in a while?
Gah! >_< Everybody took that the wrong way! I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to sound like guys can't hug each other. I find no problem at all with guys hugging each other. Actually, I think it's kind of nice. What I meant when I said that, was that the way they were hugging each other...and...just...it's too hard to explain! It just seemed to may that they seemed gay at that moment. You know, little warning bells went off in my head. I know, that was a weak example, so I guess you should just forget it.

To sum up what I meant in this post, I'm absolutely fine with guys hugging each other.

For the record I have watched and enjoyed quite a few Spongebob episodes, and have a feeling it is probably mostly inocent. The skeptical side of me does however think that there may be some thing dark lurking below the surface.

Oh, AHAHAHAA Rori, that was funny...

Anyway I have seen 97% of the episodes and not once did it cross my mind that Spongebob was gay.

However I have wondered if Sano and Kenshin were.

Seriously though...it seems you are obsessed with homosexuality. Maybe you should lighten up a bit. Organisations like FoF need something to complain about (otherwhise it seems like they aren't doing their christian duty) so they go looking for things that aren't there. At least that's my opinion.

I hate to stir up some trouble here, but your post really bothers me. First off, would you say Christians are obessed with sin when they choose to be aware of it in their life? I think there is a HUGE distinction between being mindful of what you watch (and rightfully so--not everything is blatantly good or bad but far more subtle) and calling the two rocks that happened to fall on top of each other a homosexual statue.

Secondly, as Shatterheart just said, snide remarks about Focus on the Family needing something to complain about are both unappriciated and unnecessary. I'm not going to ask you to agree with everything FoF says or advocates, but I am going to demand you show our fellow Christian ministry some respect as just that. We are to edify our brethren in Christ, not overly criticize just because we don't agree.

That being said, if you have any further comments on what I said why don't you take it up with me via PMs rather than drag this thread off topic, ok?

It's called gaydar. It allows homosexuals to recognize one another.
Jk Don't get scared now

Seriously though...it seems you are obsessed with homosexuality. Maybe you should lighten up a bit.
Obsessed with... hahahah. Wow, no one's ever told me that before. XD I think this is only thread on homosexuality I have ever posted on. And, really, this Spongebob thing isn't that big of a deal. I still watch it, and stuff. I just thought that since this thread was already made, I would just bring up something that came to mind. Just that certain episodes gave me small bad vibes. I doubt it will warp your mind for watching them, or anything.

Perhaps we've gotten off on the wrong foot. I'm really not trying to find things that aren't there. I'm not the kind of person who, in real life, sees a couple of best friends and immediately wonders if they're gay. Actually, one time, some of my friends and I were at a theme park, and we went to get on one of the rides. The ride worker guy said something to us (I forgot what, it wasn't important). After we got on the ride, my friends were whispering to me, "He's gay." I'm like, "Wha? How do you know?" They started talking about his lisp and his clothes an that he just...was! I'm like o_O; "Okay, whatever."

Well anyway, it's just that today's media hardly ever ceases to disappoint me. I don't know what to assume anymore.

EDIT: Oh, sorry, Ashley. I posted before I realized you posted before me. ^_^;

Oh yeah, that's show is totally gay. I'd never let my hypothetical son watch that garbage. He'll grow up to be some flamboyant overly-happy little sissy dressed in the most brightly-colored fashions and sporting an upright pinky and plucked eyebrows. Even if he were straight to begin with (as no son of mine would ever be originally gay, of course), he won't be able to resist the hordes of flaming homosexuals throwing their well-oiled muscle-bound bodies at him in sinful unnatural union! Oh, the horror! Think of the children!

I can't believe they're saying such a thing, I mean I watch the cartoon from time to time and I don't see any sexual preference of any sort that the sponge takes. Sigh....they said the same thing about Bert and Ernie years ago, it's just not right to make something attempting to be innocent and 'demonize' it.

"Bert and Ernie are gay. They live together."

So many people say that. But roommates live together. And *most* of them aren't gay.

(BTW, I wouldn't exactly call Spongebob innocent but that's because of the potty humor common in Nickelodeon shows.)

I'm thinking that not ONE person went to the links I included in an earlier post. Seems to me that Dobson doesn't have a problem with SB, but with a group that tries to get kids in 61,000 schools to accept a form of "tolerance" that includes sexual orientation. Letting parents know that that kind of stuff is being pushed on school kids earlier and earlier seems to me what FotF was trying to do. As for SB being gay or not, I don't even think that's the issue.
