AnimeHeretic wrote:I've heard good things about it, but the movie puts me in a Catch-22 for my purist ways. Do I opt for the original English or the Japanese dub?
Plot and chara are most important to me. Art and animation are nice additions, but can't make up for bad plot/chara.
kaemmerite wrote:The English dub...was actually pretty good. I haven't seen the original Japanese, so I have nothing to compare it to, but the voices were excellent, IMO, especially D's hand, as I mentioned earlier. I'm mostly a subtitle guy myself, but this was a very good quality dub.

I wouldn't put Naruto on my list, but I feel I should mention that while I think it is a high quality show with many good things going for it, I am a bit annoyed with some extreme fans of the series.

Kawaiikneko wrote:Edit: and to the person who thought Inuyasha was over-rated, it kinda is, but the Japanese release is at least 10X better than the dub. Its amazing how much of a difference the voices make. The series starts out very good, and just sorta spirals downhill past the 100's. Fortunately the manga is still rather interesting. The fanbase for Inuyasha is what makes it so annoying. lol People make it more than it is.
Mave wrote:If I had to pick on an anime series, I would respectfully vote for Love Hina because I had guy friends who constantly gushed about how good the series was and showed off their collection of pics, consisting of girls bathing in hot springs or only wearing towels/swimsuits. Sorry, LH fans, I just can't help being annoyed.
Mave wrote:Maybe it's because my buddies don't exaggerate or constantly gush about them "OOOOh it's the best show ever!! You've gotta watch it! You're gonna LOVE it! There's something wrong with you if you don't!" They just say, "Hey, I think this is a good anime. Try it whenever you can."
Hitokiri wrote:Another series that I find slightly overrated though I love is Rurouni Kenshin...basically cause it's so freakin long. If they only had it up to th eend of the Kyoto Arc, it would of been great but it gets crappier and crappier as it goes beyond that. Plus I find the starting of the series bland and boring until the Kurogasa appears and than it gets un-intresting until the Aoshi arc and than it doesn't gets borring until the Kyoto Arc (when Saitou appears).
Kokoro Daisuke wrote::drool: The reason a lot of shows have been killed for me is because I have to listen to people gush about it all the time. You have no idea how lucky you are, Mave. I have a fair sized list of anime that I refuse to watch because of it, in fact. Call me spiteful or something.
. hack// signWants to be too deep. It's about a computergame ffs. The dialogues get so boring and complicated after a couple episodes you just stop listening/reading. The music which constantly plays doesn't help either. Background music is cool...but it's not an opera.
