Awesome Teachers at your school

Postby Mr. SmartyPants » Thu Jan 20, 2005 9:08 pm

are there any teachers whom you think are totally awesome in your school? I have 3

1. Mr. Sundell - Teaches English

This guy is like, one of those marine/army guys whos all totally republican and stuff. Aww man he's great. We spend an approx about 10 minutes in his class doing actual learning. In my school, we have what we call cafe duty. Which is basically like you help around the cafeteria as punishment. And detentions. But Mr. Sundell don't call it detention. He call's it Wall. He doesn this thing with his hand, criscrosses his middle and ring finger. And makes a "W" with his hand, brings it up to the student and says "YOU GOT WALL"

A prime example of a kid getting 50 minutes of cafe duty when they initially received 10.

Mr. Sundell: Smetona, you got 10 cafe (10 minutes)
Smetona: But mr. sundell, i dind't do nothing!
Mr. Sundell: 20!
Smetona: what?
Mr. Sundell 30
Smetona: Aww come on *smacks hand on desk*
Mr. Sundell: 40
Smetona: For slapping my hand on the desk?????
Mr. Sundell: 50
Smetona: All right ill shut up
Mr. Sundell: Thank you Smee

He also has good stories. VERY good stories. Like one time he was working at a satanation facility. And one of the guys he worked for fell in this GIANT container of poo. They had to rescue him, and de-bacterialize him and stuff.

awww good moments. Tons and tons of laughs. It's always the same 3 kids too.

2. Mr. Civitarese - Teaches Science

Mr. Civ is awesome. But he can't teach. He always sluurs his sentences and such. And stutters. And has a low voice, hes Italian

Student: Mr Civ, can we use a pen?
Civ: Pen, Pencil, crayon....marker... lipstick, use whatever

another time

Mr. Civ: COPALAN! SHUT UP AND TAKE YOUR <censored> OUTSIDE! OR ELSE YOURE GONNA FAIL!
Copalan: But I'm not failing.
Mr.Civ: (very nicely and calmly) Yes yes i know

Once he was proctoring a spanish exam

Student: Mr. Civ, can we ask other people for help?
Mr. Civ: Sure! Ask your friend! use a textbook, heck ask the guy who mows your lawn in the morning!
Student: Mr. Civ, this exam is hard.
Mr. Civ: Whats so hard about spanish? All it is with english with an "a" at the end!

He's really charismatic. When he's reading parts of the Bible, he reads it really well, and sorta adds his own words into it. It's really awesome

And last but not Least. Mr. Thaler

3. Mr. Thaler -

this guy is the best. He's been in the math department for since like... forever. I mean many dads of students at my school still remember this guy. He's old and really big, and likes 3 musketeers bars. This guy is about the most famous teacher at our school.

Mr. Thaler: Now you know what happens when you look at another persons paper right. A-a-a big claw drops from the ceiling and clamps to your head! And pulls you up! Like the crane game!

He also likes to make in fun of the pictures in math textbooks that have nothing to do with the chapter. He gives questions for homework that are actually impossible to trick his students!

He's a hilarious guy. But i dont have him as a teacher. I might have him next year though.

Edit: I forgot some more

[/b]Mr. Farralley - Teaches Latin[/b]

This guy is awesome. He's Irish and has an irish accent. He likes to say thigns like "kick the boot in" and "little bookey wookeys" and "nonono we don't watch gladiator due to the wheather" and he's really lenient. And when we have detention, its only for like 1 minute.

Mrs. Jones - Teaches Religion

She's a REALLY nice teacher! She knows theology really well and shes amazing.

Mrs. Koth - Teaches Religion

She's really awesome as well. 2 Best Religion teachers (her and mrs. Jones) she can bring up any controversial topic without being narrow-minded.

Post your awesome teachers!

Well, I really like all my teachers. I go to a Christian school, but probably the best two are Coach Cloud and Coach Macfarlin. Both of them are bible teachers.

Coach Cloud really knows his bible, first off. He's also very dedicated to his job and his students. He's a nice guy too, and he doesn't believe in giving detentions. He says that iff the problem is between him and one of his students, he doesn't want to involve anyone else. He'll sure run you at PE though. And he'll tell you what you need to hear know in the bible, whether it be conforting or not.

Coach Macfarlin Is a really nice guy as well. I haven't been fortunate enough to be in his class yet, thats next year for me, but he was my bus driver. He's a very good speaker, but we both relate well, because he has a Xbox. It's kind of weird. I remember walking down the hall and he came up behind me and started talking about how he was going to get Fable that night. He beat it before i did too.

I like this since we live in society who bashes teachers as a whole more often than honoring the good ones.

Dr. H and Dr. D, both treat me with respect and sincerely want the best for me. If it weren't for their kindness and patience, I don't know how I would have gotten through my last two years. I consider my professors as gifts of God. It's also nice t know that they're both Christian and in fact, one of them attends the same church as I do. No humor to share but just heartfelt appreciation. :)

Most of the teachers at my high school weren't great. They didn't notice when I was being bullied in the grounds or even in the classroom.

There were several great teachers though.

Mr Shirmer - Funny, relevant, knew how to handle the rebels, strict but fun loving and always made class interesting.

Ms Heremans - English teacher, nice, fun-loving, very funny, (hated Shakespeare but we still had to do it), would make weird faces and odd comments.

Mr Radke - Very strict, but a great teacher, had the best true stories to tell relating to the subject he taught (sometimes not even that!), He was very funny, sarcastic and put the rebellious students in their place. All round my favourite teacher ever. But now he's in Queensland! Waah!

I'm not in high school any more, but when I was, my latin teacher was my favorite. Probably because we spent so much time together as it iwas, we just grew to very much like and respect each other. We keep in touch via email now that I've graduated.

I also adored my US History AP teacher, Crossno. That's what we called him. Christene (best bud from high school) and I were so amused by him, it was crazy. He was one of those fun teachers that makes their lectures interesting by tossing in a few jokes. One time, he and Christene and I had a weird little quibble:
Day 1: Ash and Christene decide to have some fun, so they sneak out of their latin class and into Crossno's room, who isn't there. They hide a granola bar in the paper tray on his desk
Day 1 PM: Ash finds granola bar beneath her desk. Christene slips granola bar into filing tray on filing cabinet.
Day 2: Christene finds granola bar in her purse
Day: 3: Christene and Ash go to sneak it back but get caught, so Crossno chases the aforementioned students down the hall, eventually chucking the granola bar into Christene's backpack

Ah, good memories. Crossno also wrote in my yearbook "Citizen Kane is the best movie ever and deep in your heart, you know it" (I hated that movie and he knew it).

Now that I'm in college, I have to say without a doubt the best proff ever is Dr. Lauster. Not only was he incredibly fun to be around, but the man got me 2 job opportunities AND an internship application because he knew I was an art major.

A teacher I will always remember was Dr. Logan Carson who taught Old Testament at the collage I attended. He was a blind African American who was fluent in the Hebrew language and preferred to act out the Old Testament accounts that we was teaching. One of my favorites was his rendition of the story of Esther. He always referred to the religion students as his "young theolog tadpoles". Last I heard he had moved up and is now teaching at a seminary in North Carolina, which was always his big dream.

I usually liked my coaches.

Coach Pitman
We would always play basketball and he would join in. He was pretty good for an old guy. :P It's always cool when coaches participated with the students.

Coach D.
My wrestling coach. Man, this guy was small as heck, but was an awesome wrestler. He could take down anyone. Also, he taught me some really cool stuff. :P

Coach Deckerd: Taught my Medical Microbiology and Pathophysiology class my senior year. He was pretty cool and told some really awesome/funny stories. It was always a fun class.

Most of the time, coaches tend to be the coolest teachers. Most know how to joke around and usually have some really cool stuff to say.

ANother one of my favorite teachers was Ms. Barr, she was my junior english teacher. She was just really cool.

Sra. S - My Spanish teacher in high school but so much more. She was an outspoken Christian who cared greatly about the spiritual well-being of the Christians in her classes. She let us hold a Bible study in her class during lunch, and though it was illegal for her to lead it, she would answer questions we had about God and our Christian faith. She was the Christian women I looked up to during my major spiritual warfare in high school since, even though I love my Mom dearly, she still drove me up the wall. I don't think the senora will ever know how much she meant to me and the others in the Bible Study.

Mrs. B- Another outspoken Christian women who taught science and would never back down when attacked about her stance on abortion. If I remember correctly, people tried to get her mother to have an abortion while she was pregnant with her, though I forget why. She was very against it and was a big advocate of adoptions.

Mrs. B- A different one. She had me tested for gifted in the fourth grade. Up until then, I guess I thought I was dumb, because I didn't get all 100's and I even flunked English one year. But being tested for gifted, and not only passing and being accepted but also being put into advanced math made me consider the possibility that maybe I was smart. After that I began to try in school rather than just doing only as much as it took to keep my parents off my back (I got punished for bad grades a lot). I got straight A's for the first time ever (and last time until high school), and after that I began to really try and my good grades were the only source of self-respect I had for myself for a long time.

Mrs. Y - An impatient and moody history teacher. She had a tendancy to throw her shoe when she got upset (and yes, she did hit a student in the head once) and she walks around class with a fly swatter in her hand with a shoe at the end of it (not to kill bugs mind you; it was used to hit us on the back if we fell asleep). She wouldn't let us make fun of the 'big tough gang members doing ballet' in West Side Story either and if we lied to her and she found out, she would say that 'the flames of hell were leaping at our feet'. But everyone loved her. ^_^ She was too awesome and funny. She loves brownnosers. If you tell her she's looking lovely or whatever, she'll just smile and say, "Thank you very much. A+" Lol and she always talk about history, sometimes about her 'wild years'. She was very strange, but definitely the best teacher I had in high school. ^_^

When I was in high school, everyone loved Mrs. Sabatka, the chemistry teacher. She was slightly scattered-brained but very nice. She always stayed after school to tutor and she would let us make popcorn as a snack. She was always excited when Mole Day came around (anyone into chemistry probably knows about this). On that day, we would get to make silly putty and fun stuff in lab for extra credit. She's retired know but she still helps a lot at the high school.

There are four teachers I currently look up to at my school. ^^;

Mrs. Lord - English 2 Honors teacher that I had, and also the advisor for the Creative Writer's club that I'm Vice President of. She's a very nice lady who sings with a church band and lets me sit in her classroom during my open period so I can write. When she was my English teacher I really admired how she tried to challenge us while not giving us so much work that we got bogged down (don't get me wrong, we got homework, but she taught us how to spread it out and manage our time). She's just really laid back and compassionate, and it's not uncommon that my friends and I sit in her room during lunch and talk to her.

Mr. Zogg - My photo teacher is great. XD; He's a nice guy, pretty laid back, but he's a bit eccentric (the man has a dead hawk in his freezer. >_>; Don't ask how THAT came about) and he has a really amusing dry sense of humor. I'm really glad he's the photo teacher at my school, because I don't think anyone else would be able to put up with my constant blunders and my impulsive need to ask questions. He has good taste in music, too. x3 Maybe I should try to introduce him to jrock.

Mr. Barnes - My history teacher for THREE years now. You'd think the guy's sick of me already, but he dun seem to mind seeing my face day after day. xD; Luckily. I'm sort of the technical support in the class, since he tends to live in the past (he doesn't believe in cell phones/book keeping software/etc.). I don't think he's a Christian, but I admire his outlook on teaching. He constantly reminds my class that you go to school to learn, not to get good grades, and he tries to emphasize learning instead of points, which I really like. He's also against all the political correctness that's going on in the world today, and while he's not religious, he still uses terms like "merry christmas" and "before christ" and he thinks that changing terms like that is ridiculous. x3

Mr. Kurrle - My biology teach freshman year - I have NEVER laughed so hard in a class. Mr. Kurrle is seriously WEIRD (he has a clock that farts on the hour) but he's a good teacher and he knows how to make you laugh no matter what. (I walked into his room for a club meeting a couple weeks ago, and he looked at me and said "Oh no, Kelly's here, we're doomed" X3; ) He's also fairly open about being a Christian, and his dad was a minister at one of the big churches in my area, from what I understand. :)

Phoenix - Physics
Had him in Grade 9 and now in Grade 11. He makes you think. THINK. He was able to make me understand physics. 100 IN PHYSICS. YES.

Khorshidchehr - Electronics
Had him for Grade 10 Computer Engineering. He is awesome. He knows so much and he adds to the highest person's mark so that they're at 99 and adds to everyone else the same amount. 99 FOR ME.

Hybs - Biology
Had him in Grade 10 Science. He is the most insane person I know. He's also the most sarcastic and cynical person I know. He's probably one of the smartest too. For example:
"do you know what mineral water is?"
<takes straw and blows bubbles into water>
<takes chalk, and scrapes bits into water>
<drinks>
or
<holds up a physics textbook, opens it to a page with kids on a roller coaster>
You know why they're screaming? Because they have to read the freaking chapter!

He also gave us these impossible to do assignments, make us second guess ourselves, make us panic and have our heads explode and give us an okay mark even if it didn't work.

Cohen - English
I had him in Grade 9 and now I have him for Grade 11 English and a course called Classical Civiliation, where we study Ancient Greek literature, like Homer's The Iliad and the Oedipus plays. There's an awesome story. One day, last year a plant showed up out of nowhere in our Grade 10 English class. My teacher last year shared a room with Cohen. Now this year, he tells us that last year's class dared him to steal the plant from Student Services. A few minutes later, he carries the plant back up with everyone in the hall walking around, and it's been there ever since. We decorated it for Christmas this year. Then we threw it out the window. We were on the second floor.

Moroz - Music
I've had her for three years, mainly because she's the only music teacher. We all love her. She's also an awesome teacher. Every class, she has a story to tell us. She has the worst luck in the world.

When I was in high school 70 to 73, the teacher I had admired the most was my vocational teacher Mr Harold Thompson for commercial food services.
I was in his class for 3 years for 3 periods a day where we would cook and serve meals 2 days a week in the kitchen class room in the vocational wing of the school. Mostly teachers and visitors would eat in the room that served as the serving area. Fixed all types of meals.
Mr "T" as we called him was a Marine in WWII as a tail gunner on a 3 man bomber in the Pacific. After all the fighting was over with he went into working in the camp kitchens and when he retired in the early 60s he went to calinary schools and became a chef and cake decorator and then then became a teacher.
The last I heard about him from another classmate is that he has Parkinsons and and his hands shake real bad.
It is sad for such a great guy.
