Well, I'm a guy who loves shows like Sailor Moon, Fruits Basket, Marmalade Boy, and Super GALS. So I'm thinking that makes a shoujo fan.

Actually, I KNOW that I'm a shoujo fan. (I can't stand all that fighting and people screaming "Yaaaaaah!" before punching someone's lights out -- where's the love?)

I really like both... however I must admit I'm a sucker for shoujo... when it's shounen the characters have to have really strongly developed...

I tend to prefer shounen anime (anyone who knows me won't be surprised by that! XD) but there are a lot of shoujo titles I like too...but definitely more shounen titles. They don't blow up as much stuff in shoujo. <.< >.>

While I currently prefer shonen over shoujo, if the show's good or interesting, I'll certainly watch it.

A good acid test for shoujo/shounen is to look at the target audience of the anthology in which the manga was originally published.

This is what I always do. Although, with the various anime that don't originally have manga versions, it is quite often harder to tell.
At any rate, if the manga runs in Shonen Jump/Sunday/Ace/Magazine/Champion or any of the other shonen anthologies, it is shonen.
If it runs in Nakayoshi, Ribon, Hana to Yume, Margaret, Sho-comi, or any of the other shoujo anthologies, it is shoujo.

Then there are some anime and manga that don't technically fit in either category; Miyazaki's movies and the Nausicaa manga for instance.
Anyways, shonen and shoujo are basically marketing terms used by the Japanese companies. So, watch/read what you like...

I watch both, so to me it really doesn't matter. Sometimes I like the action packed stuff, then at times I don't mind watching a romantic or dramatic series. I would hate to only watch one kind of anime... that would get a bit boring. As long as there is a good story. :P

I'm with HitoKiri as long as it has a good story and not to much bad content I'm fine with either. I own both shoujo and shounen anime titles. Some of the best are the ones that drag the line like Escaflowne. That and Now And Then, Here And There are my favorites...I think NAT,HAT is shonen though.

They haven't shown any Shoujo,REAL Shoujo since Sailor Moon was cancelled.Totally Spies comes close but as everyone knows TS isn't
Anime but rather Pseudo-anime so it doesn't count.

Myself I perfer shows that include at least a bit of humor in them so it doesn't matter wheter they're one of the other.

I don't really look at whether its shojo or shonen, but at the story and the characters, ect. Then I decide to watch it... if its good, even better ^^

I think we all agree that what is important is the story.
btw:I find it ironic that one of the more popular episodes of MEGAS XLR is the
Sailor Moon spoof.I mean they've run it about three times already!

I find that I like animes that go under both of those. But if the story is good, and there isn't lots and lots and lots and lots etc of bad religion, material, imoral things etc, in it, and the characters are lovable enough, did I meantion the plot line?... Well, I like it then. And watch it, if I'm able to.

Like I'd love to see Rurouni Kenshin, but it comes on at 10:30 on CN, but my parents don't like to watch anime, and we have only one television, so I can't watch it. But that's okay. If I'm meant to see it, I'm meant to see it. If not, well, that's fine too. I don't let anime run my life, like it once used too when I was much younger. That was bad.
