how to deal with foreign/asian/korean parents

As some of you can tell by my name, I'm korean. And if you are/were(meaning your on your own) by those that are not originally from the US or raised out of the US for most of their childhood, you may know what it is I am asking about. I need help in resolving issues with my parents. Not odd ones, I think, but more of the kind usually found within families of non-domestic origins. So do any of you have advice for me?

Well it depends on what your issues are, really. My was born and raised in Malaysia, so I definitely know being raised by someone who grew up thousands of miles away can be quite the interesting experience. ^^;

Well, put very simply...

"Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you."
Exodus 20:12

I think this applies to natural and adoptive parents you may be dealing with.

It's best perhaps to look at it this way, we don't deal with our parents, we are obedient to them. I'm 47. However, I still honor, respect and when in my parents home, yes obedient.

Both parents were from the Philippines.

I don't find it very hard to deal with. Language isn't a problem (though I can't speak the language, I comprehend it).

So what help do you need?

I grew up in Malaysia for 19 years before coming over to the U.S. My family is Chinese.

While my parents and I had our differences, but we managed to work it out. I can safely say that I honored my parents through it all.

What issues are you exactly facing with them? Future career choices? Your lifestyle? Issues with extended family members? G/Bf relationships?

im korean. My parents are Korean. I can't speak korean good. It's hard to talk to my dad at times on some stuff. I can talk to my mom though, she can comprehend english very well

I'm Korean too!! And I communicate with my parents well...but I am not sure what kind of advice you are seeking...^^;
