Oh yes and the ending to the Kyoto arc of Rurouni Kenshin
Sooo... Instead of suffering for his barbarous cruelty, Shishio gets to conquer Hell? Why not have him suffer at the hands of demons how he treated all the innocents who suffered at his hands...
.hack//Legend of the Twilight anime. Total letdown. Absolutly no attempt to tie it in with the games. No mention of the characters relation to others other then the main characters.

The manga is so much better. An I mean way better.
A nightingale in a golden cage
That's me locked inside reality's maze
Come someone make my heavy heart light
Come undone, bring me back to life
It all starts with a lullaby

X: The Movie's ending was a huge letdown for me.
Fuuma seemed so powerful and went around killing members of the Earth. He faces off Kamui and all Kamui has to do is chop off his head in one blow. That was so disappointing, my jaw almost dropped open. ^_^;;
Disappointment number 2 - the end of both Gensoumaden Saiyuki AND Saiyuki Requiem.
They HAD to go the way of DBZ with all the enemies who have multiple stages, each stronger than the last. =.=;;;; And I can't decide what's worse, Zenon's last "form" turning green and bulgy, Kou-Dougan's last "form" being some bizarre meatball/cockroach hybrid, or Shien...finally opening his eyes and suddenly becoming all powerful. I thought they were above drivle like that.
That's why I quit watching RK.

There's a manga that parodies all the different genres of manga (I'll leave it nameless because it's rather raunchy) that discusses this. They call it opponent inflation, because the villains keep getting tougher until they take on practically godlike powers

Aww, man I second that. It seemed like they just tied it up too quicky.

This is what I've been saying! You need to read the manga, it's ten thousand times better! And also, really different. Like...really different. For starters, about the last five episodes of the anime were original to it. That's right...NO EPISODE 23. Click on the pic that says "AngelSakura" in my sig for details.
Think happy thoughts.

Who says he'd be able to conquer Hell. I doubt the Head Evil Guy would even give him a chance! I like to picture him arriving and starting his stink. Then the Head Evil Guy pops up and says "I don't think so" and pfft! No more Shishio!

Well, the point was the ending made it look like a reward-- endless battles for him, just like he wants. Now had he found out that he was going to be treated the same way he treated the people he terrorized, THAT would have made a good "just deserts" ending.

My jaw did hit the floor on that one.
That was probably the worst letdown we had ever had at our anime night...actually the whole ending really was a letdown. Thanks to that we actually voted to watch the series all the way through... in hopes of a better ending. We were literally screaming THATS IT!?!?!? I actually qualified it as worst movie from series conversion ever...

I was dissapointed in both of Ai Yori Aoshi's endings.

there aren't many anime that I've seen all the way to the end. -_- but. there is one series that was a big letdown as a whole and that is Full Moon wo Sagashite. okay, the manga was really, really good. the anime started out okay, but after the first episode it started to draaaag. there were way too many filler eps and they managed to stretch a seven-volume manga into 50some episodes.

they also watered down some MAJOR plot points, like
the shinigami are people that committed suicide, and having to take the souls of others is their eternal punishment. Kira Takuto didn't accidentally crash on his bike. he killed himself intentionally. as did Meroko and Izumi.
also, the shinigami Izumi was demonized way more than he should have been in the anime. you're supposed to be able to feel sad for this character after his tragic childhood and suicide. in the manga I wanted to grab him and hug him. in the anime I wanted to smash his smug little face in. the anime didn't even get into his past.

the ending really annoyed me too.
Meroko and Mitsuki had to go into the spirit world or whatever to find some sacred flower to save Takuto from becoming a ghost. how cliche and overused is THAT? give me a break.
oh and one more nitpick.
the age gap between Eichi and Mitsuki in the anime was almost sickening. this guy was like 6 years older than her. and since she's 12, that's a BIG difference. maybe the anime people thought it would be cute because his name sounds like "H" which is a way of saying "pervert" in Japanese. also, what the crap do 12 year olds know about love? not much, last time I checked. also, Mitsuki is annoying with "Eichi this, Eichi that," even after he's DEAD. what happened to moving on with your life, hmm? well, at least she gets Takuto at the end of the manga.
<.<; >.>; I'm done.

My vote is Blue Gender. They could've very easily ended it with episode 24. Instead, they gave us a two-part ending that screamed forced! :mutter:
Up until that point, it was a great series.

Unfortunately, when they hope to do sequels, they have to have everything go back to a neutral position. I find sequels tend to be awful in that respect-- never resolve anything and you wasted $29.99 (or whatever) times however many discs in the series...
