Does anyone know where to buy this anime?

Postby bigsleepj » Tue Jan 18, 2005 8:39 am

My sister's favourite anime movie is an adaptation of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's ballet Swan Lake. We've always loved it and I'd like to purchase it for her as a gift (sometime) but I can't find it anywhere. It was released on VHS ages ago and isn't available anymore. Or at least in the US.

Does anyone know where I can find it on DVD or VHS? Is there any English-language websites specializing in Anime DVDs published in Japan?

And please don't say Ebay or anything similar. Ebay doesn't work for me...mostly because it doesn't deliver outside of North America (or because items are sometimes only available in the US for purchase and international shipping is complicated for the seller).

Here is a fan-site but he seems to offer pirate copies so I wont bite.

I'm guessing it's been discontinued. The animation looks very 80's.

Have you e-mailed the person at the bottom of the page? You're probably right about the pirate thing, but you might as well e-mail her. She might know something we don't.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I think I saw the last fifteen minutes of this movie one Sunday afternoon. You might want to give Amazon a shot if you haven't already. You never know what you may find there. I'm in the States so I can only imagine your predicament. I'll do some research and see if I can be of more help.

E-mail the seller and see if you can arrange something. Often people on ebay will work with you if you start "negotiations" soon enough.
